SINGAPORE, May 28, 2025 – GMA Network Inc.’s groundbreaking advocacy campaign Panata Kontra-Fake News was named Best Multi-Platform Campaign at the prestigious Asia Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards, held at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport in Singapore.

Launched on National Press Freedom Day 2024, Panata Kontra-Fake News is a bold, multi-sectoral initiative that empowers Filipinos to stand against disinformation. Spearheaded by GMA Network in collaboration with key partners in media, education, and technology, the campaign champions media literacy, truth-telling, and critical thinking across a wide spectrum of audiences.

GMA Integrated News led the charge in mobilizing nearly 60 partner organizations through a landmark MOA signing event, while driving sustained efforts such as multi-platform fact-checking initiatives and the GMA Masterclass: Eleksyon 2025 “Dapat Totoo” Series which gathered more than 12,000 students in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, empowering the young generation of Filipinos and championing the fight against fake news.

Through impactful special reports, interactive multimedia content, and immersive storytelling deployed across TV, radio, and digital platforms, the campaign has reached millions—equipping the masses with the tools to spot and reject falsehoods in everyday life.

“This international recognition is both an honor and a call to action,” said Oliver Victor B. Amoroso, Senior Vice President and Head of GMA Integrated News, GMA Regional TV, and Synergy. “Panata Kontra-Fake News reflects our unwavering commitment to credible journalism and to working with communities and institutions to protect the truth. This award belongs to every journalist, partner, and Filipino who believes that facts matter.”

The campaign’s success was made possible through the strong support of advocacy collaborators—from academic institutions and media organizations to tech companies—who helped amplify its reach and deepen its societal impact.

The Asia Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards celebrates excellence in broadcasting, innovation, and digital transformation across the region. Winners are recognized not only for outstanding content but also for redefining the media landscape and driving meaningful change.

Segunda Mana to hold Mega Bazaar 2025 to Support Youth Education and Environmental Sustainability

June 1, 2025

Caritas Manila, the lead social service and development ministry of the Catholic Church in the Philippines, will host a Mega Bazaar through its donated goods program, Segunda Mana. The event encourages thrifty shoppers and sustainability advocates at the Segunda Mana Mega Bazaar 2025, happening from June 6 to 8, 2025, at Ayala Malls TriNoma, Level 4, Cinema Lobby.

The Segunda Mana Mega Bazaar 2025 offers shoppers a chance to explore a wide array of quality pre-owned and brand-new items—including apparel, accessories, home goods, and more—all generously donated by individuals, celebrities, and corporate partners. Every purchase supports Caritas Manila’s flagship program, the Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP), which helps send around 5,000 underprivileged Filipino youths to school.

In partnership with Caritas Margins, the event will also feature products from marginalized and micro-entrepreneurial communities. This collaboration transforms the Mega Bazaar into a celebration of both environmental sustainability and inclusive economic empowerment.

One of the event’s partners is PMG Philippines, a leading integrated marketing communications agency that supports the Mega Bazaar through event management and public relations efforts.

More than just a shopping event, the Segunda Mana Mega Bazaar promotes environmental responsibility by encouraging the reuse and repurposing of goods.

“Buying is the new way of giving,” said Rev. Fr. Anton CT Pascual, Executive Director of Caritas Manila.

The three-day event promises not only guilt-free shopping but also opportunities to learn more about the impactful work of Caritas Manila, a charitable organization operating since 1953.

Caritas Manila invites everyone to support this meaningful cause by shopping with a purpose. Donations of gently used items are also welcome and may be dropped off during the event.
For more information, follow Caritas Manila and Segunda Mana on Facebook and TikTok.
