At the age of 95, what made Manong Johnny Enrile decide to run again for Senator?

May 11,2019

Manong Johnny Enrile shows his "thumbs up" sign

Juan Furagganan Ponce Enrile, Sr. ( born February 14, 1924), abbreviated JPE, is a Filipino politician and lawyer. He was a protégé of President Ferdinand Marcos, and served as Justice Secretary and then Defense Minister under the Marcos regime. He later became one of the leaders (along with General Fidel V. Ramos) of the 1986 People Power Revolution that drove Marcos from power and into exile. Enrile has continued to be a prominent politician since then; he was Senate President from November 2008 until his resignation on June 5, 2013. (Wikipedia)

Those description or profile of JPE above, or better yet known as "Manong Johnny" today, could briefly describe who he is and how he made an impact to us, our Constitution and to the rest of the Philippine history.

Most of us were asking and maybe a bit astounded by Manong Johnny's decision to run again for Senator in the upcoming 2019 Elections on May 13, right? It was known to all of us that he resigned last 2013 that's why various types of reaction had risen as soon as he declared his candidacy to attain an office in the Senate. With all those new faces, young minds and non-traditional politicians emerging, the "big" question is, "At the age of 95, what made him decide to run again for Senator?"

We were glad and very privileged to have been invited and take this rare opportunity to interview Manong Johnny in person. And I must say,  at his age, he can absolutely and clearly answer to all our questions despite his hearing difficulty, other than that, we were able to gather a lot of information, global issues and other political concerns most especially those affecting  and concerning our country.

Here's what Manong Johnny has to say to the "big" question thrown to him during our meet-up
Other issues, including the influx of Chinese laborers here in our country was also tackled...

I got the chance to ask him how important it is for a candidate like him, to be endorsed by a big religious sector like the Iglesia Ni Cristo or El Shaddai...
He answered, "Any endorsement is important, because they have controlled voters , especially the Iglesia Ni Cristo, but the fact that you have not been endorsedm does not mean that you already lost the election."

Do you believe in surveys?
"No. I've never subscribed to any survey since I started becoming a politician and I lost twice already, I won four times as a Senator without involving the survey, or subscribing to a survey."
In your famous slogan, you always say, "Gusto ko happy ka," I am just curious what make you happy  personally?

"To be at peace with myself that makes me happy. "
Thank you Manong Johnny for the time and for answering all our queries. It was really helpful to get to know you and your ideals that you hope you could share and partake in solving our the nation's major problems. I would like to say, win or lose, still wanna congratulate you because you are an icon and you've made your mark in our history and thank you for being part of it. Job well done Manong Johnny!!!

More power to these admirable nominees of ALIF Party List

Like for example, the indigenous Filipinos who were let's say... not receiving due attention, protection and security and even livelihood. programs. Through ALIF Party List, they would be able to reach out to them and aid them whatever assistance they need.
