Singers come and go...entertainers, musicians, performers, we have bunch of them! But some were given the right opportunity and others, they were underrated, while some, weren't given the proper exposure and right projects. I believe that, we, Filipinos have undoubtedly God-given gifts in singing, it's just that, each and every aspiring individual has his/ her own style and "attack," which they call it. Having said so, it all now depends on the right exposure, timing, packaging and of course, one must possess the "X factor" or the "it" thing that the majority's looking for. 

Why am I saying all these? Because, here's another genuine talent. A young man, named Kiel Alo, I labeled him as the "Male Adele," since he mostly sings international singer Adele's songs, that are a lot more difficult to sing, as we all know, compared to other artists' songs. But Kiel, has managed to do this. Another good thing about this young man, is that his repertoire is not limited, he has a wider range of genre. According to him, "Gusto ko pong makilala as a balladeer, OPM and international ballads. But as an artist po, I am willing to cater any kind of music kung kinakailangan po." 

Kiel, recalls being discovered by his manager Jobert Sucaldito. Before, he was working as an SMDC International agent, he was invited to a birthday party ang performed two songs, not knowing that Jobert was there too, he then asked Kiel to give showbiz a try like in recording but there's no promise.  And you know what, his first single will be released anytime this year. 

When asked about his musical influences, he also digs the likes of  Eric Bennet, John Legend, Luther Vanross, James Ingram, Martin Nievera, Gary V., Ogie Alcasid, and Ariel Rivera. If you wanna know, his celebrity crush/es, he readily answered, Julia Barretto, Arci Munoz and Bela Padilla. If given the chance, he also hopes to do a collaboration with popular singers like Morissette Amon, particularly with her song "Akin Ka Na Lang," then he also wishes to sing with Ms. Lea Salonga, Regine Velasquez and Jona. 

Seems that everything's getting into the right place at the right time for Kiel. He is now gonna have a back-to-back concert with Ezekiel, another promising talent of Jobert and it's entitled, "From K to Z," happening this Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Musicbox in Timog cor. Quezon Ave. in Quezon City. Show atarts at 9PM. Guests would be Dessa, the Pink Mannequins and a lot more! He relates having sung at least ten songs a day as his training including his repertoire for the said concert. He is very positive about this concert and all their preparations since their manager, Jobert has trained them very well... to be at eased with their performances in every concert being produced by their manager. 

So what can we expect from him in his upcoming back-to-back concert with Ezekiel? "Ipapakita ko po 'yung creativity and versatility ko po as an artist. Dancing? Secret po," he answered. Hmmm, so definitely, we should really watch their show huh, he gave us reasons and something to look forward to. Just to add info, Kiel was present also in almost every concert of Michael Pangilinan being produced by Jobert, but this time, he won't be around since he must've other valid reason or maybe working on to something, nevertheless, Kiel fully understands his Kuya Khel (Michael). He says, "Pero alam po namin na kahit wala po s'ya, his support is with us."

This fresh talent has a lot to say and be thankful to his manager and "Nanay," Jobert Sucaldito. "Para po kay Nanay Jobert, taos pusong pasasalamat sa patuloy na paniniwala at pagmamahal n'ya po sa akin bilang anak at alaga, Makakaasa po kayo na mas paghuhusayan ko pa po. Walang kahit na anong materyal na bagay ang maaaring makatumbas ng pagmamahal na binigay n'yo po sa akin at mahal na mahal ko po kayo," he shared.

Kiel's main goals for his career? "Gusto ko po for my music career ay makilala po ako sa buong Pilipinas at maging international artist, para ipakita sa ibang lahi ang galing ng Pinoy." 



Let's make a way for Kiel... I've seen him perform several times and I assure you he is worth-watching. His voice and his style will definitely put you to spell and enchant you so  and let's give him the chance to prove his craft now that the spotlight is on and poking at him. Best of luck Kiel! After guesting at the "Powerhouse" concert, Michael will have his free birthday concert on Nov. 26

Super busy and in-demand good-looking singer, Michael Pangilinan, has a very hectic schedule. Imagine, after guedting at the "Powerhouse" concert that will happen today, October 28, Friday at "The Theatre" in Solaire Resort and Casino, he'll be focusing and dedicating his time in rehearsing for his FREE Birthday concert. 

Khel will be joining the world-class performers like Arnel Pineda, Morissette Amon, 4th Impact, Mayumi and T.O.M.S. band in the "Powerhouse" concert produced by Lucky 7 Koi Productions Inc. 

So after the said concert, he is set to spend most of his time rehearsing and promoting his upcoming birthday concert on November 26, 2016, 4-7pm at Rajah Sulayman Park in front of Malate Church in Malate, Manila. Incidentally, it's also his exact birthdate! 

Michael is so overwhelmed because almost all his proposed guests in his birthday concert agreed to come and participate. It would definitely be a very memorable and spectacular night for our "Harana Prince," our birthday boy, who's gonna be 21 on his very special day! 

He's even more excited to do a duet no. with no other than Manila Mayor Erap Estrada himself! This is really gonna be a very exciting and much awaited night for everyone! Khel's manager, Mr. Jobert Sucaldito is so proud of his "alaga." And I know that Khel deserves so much what he's having and where he is today. 

Hmmm... do I hear the question about a surprise guest for him? Actually, it's much better if we go there, celebrate and join him in his Free birthday concert! See you there, okay?!

What more could we ask for? This upcoming "Powerhouse" concert is definitely a one great salvo of prime artists like Michael Pangilinan, Morissette Amon, 4th Impact and international artist and member of the famous group "The Journey," no other than Arnel Pineda!!! 

Who would not know our world-class singer Arnel Pineda, who, before was a former vocalist of Ijos and Amo Band in the 80's. His global stardom and fame started when the famous group The Journey saw his video singing like the band's legendary lead vocals, Steve Perry. Since then, they've contacted our very own Arnel and up until now, he's been doing peroformances with the group in the key cities of United States.

The "Harana Prince" would not be taken behind the world class artists being his performance itself is at its finest and having a remarkable record like being a 2nd runner up in "Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2." His song, "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako," which hr interpreted at the "Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs" in 2014, has garnered more than 8 million views on Youtube and still counting. Just recently, he released his second album  under Star Music with "Hanggang Kailan" as its carrier single. I have high respect for this fresh young talent for amidst the trials and challenges he faces, he still stands up and proving his worth in the music industry.

The Next Big Diva, Morissette Amon, is undoubtedly the "Real Big One!" Have you seen her outstanding performances?  How she showcase her singing prowess as if there's no tomorrow! For her she gives out her best in every performance she does. A real diva attitude! She landed as finalist in ABS-CBN's "The Voice Philippines" Since then, her shows here and abroad are always a sold-out! She even had her Broadway debut in the Repertory Philippines production of Disney's Camp Rock.

Of course, another world-class performers, the 4th Impact! The members are consisted of four sisters namely Mylene, Irene, Almira and Celina. They made our country proud by being one of the finalists in X-Factor UK, gaining much popularity and even wowed the crowd and the judges led by Simon Cowell. For them, there's really no place like home. They offer their achievements to their parents and that they would be staying here in the Philippines to spend Christmas and New Year with their family.

All these superb and outstanding artists, when put together on stage, would definitely bring the house down! Truly a Powerhouse performance would make our Friday night, worth while and unforgettable. They are also joined by the beautiful Mayumi, who is the grand champion in Jap-Pinoy Star Quest of ABS-CBN and T.O.M.S. Band.

Michael Pangilinan's heart, inspiration and versatility

Michael Pangilinan the "Harana Prince" 

If you would only get to know Michael or Khel as some would comfortably address him, you'll get to see his honesty, humbleness, his passion and dedication to his craft, his love for his family and of course he is a natural comedian, I must say. He also knows how to "make lambing" or be extra sweet like a child requesting to have his wish granted to his manager Mr. Jobert Sucaldito. 

From the numerous times that we've covered his gigs, concerts, presscons, and even the premiere screening of his first film, "Pare, Mahal Mo Raw Ako," with Edgar Allan Guzman, Trina Legaspi, Matt Evans and Joross Gamboa, we've come to know him better every chat and interview we had. Inspite his very fresh age, and maybe because of what he has been through in life, he has grown mature enough to face whatever difficulties and problems he may have. 

Michael's soft features and good looks is a reflection of what he is in person. He is a family-oriented person and that he's willing to do anything just to protect, support and make them happy. For those who are not aware, Michael is now facing a personal issue: it's about his son. Hope you could watch this video during our interview with him. 


       

Khel has been longing for his only son and claims that he hasn't seen his baby for about five months already but according to him, everything's in the legal process now and he can only tell limited details about it. We give that privacy to him, after all he really deserves to be happy and be with his son, right?

About his lovelife, he said everything's fine between him and his girlfriend and also a singer Garie Concepcion who happens to be the actor Gabby Concepcion's daughter to Grace Ibuna. Khel's excited to go out of the country with Garie and that their first target is Macau and Hongkong since according to him, he wanted to buy some Wakeboarding stuff there. He's into wakeboarding for two months now which is I guess is beneficial for him. He became more lean and aside from his usual sport which is basketball, at least he has another diversion which is good for him since according to him, he became addicted to it from day 1. 

Okay, now we go to his ultimate passion which is singing. During the media launch of his self-titled album, he was so generous to sing for us eight tracks.

Khel is so proud of his album which also includes original songs with a carrier single entitled, "Hanggang Kailan," the groovy "Tayo Na Lang," his own composition, "Tanging Ligaya Mo," and "Pare, Mahal Naman Kita," the sequel of his hit song, "Pare, Mahal Mo Raw Ako." The song "Tanging Ligaya Mo," has actually struck me, it was a very heartfelt and sensitive song, which was also incidentally, became his theme song to her grandmother. Once you've listen to how Michael renders the song, you would all agree with me that he really poured his heart out to this, you can also sense how inspired he was when he wrote it, you'll feel it too, I know.

Michael's versatility is very evident in his latest album where it also offers Michael's different and moving takes on Hajji Alejandro's "Tag-araw, Tag-ulan," Ariel Rivera's "Ayoko Na Sana," Sarah McLachlan's "Angel," and Bread's "Everything I Own." 

Yey got Michael's album already! Thank you Sir Jobert, Sir RK and Khel! 


But wait there's more! Michael's latest album has bonus tracks like "Bakit Ba Ikaw," "Kung Sakali," "Pare, Mahal Mo Raw Ako," "Crossroads," ("The Love Affair" Sailing theme), and "Parang Tayo Pero Hindi," on which he duets with Angelyn Quinto. 

Truly nothing and no one can stop Michael in making his name in the industry. Just last year, he became a runner-up at the celebrity singing contest, "Your Face Sounds Familiar" Season 2, he was also one of the interpreters of the Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2016 5th Best Song, "Parang Tayo, Pero Hindi." Michael is Star Music Ph's newest singing heartthrob! 


"What's new in my album is I have more songs, and I composed a song that's included in it. This album is also more emotional and sentimental compared to my first album," shared Michael. When we asked him, his top 3 most fave tracks from this album, his answer was...

Sobrang busy ni Michael Pangilinan nitong past months and ang pinaka-latest niyang pinagkakaabalahan ay ang kanilang FULL TANK concert with Prima Diva Billy na gaganapin sa Teatrino (Promenade, Greenhills) this coming Friday, July 1 at 9 P.M.Makakasama nila as guests dito ang mga dating X-Factor co-finalists niyang sina Gab Maturan, Allen Sta. Maria with grand winner KZ Tandingan. Sasali rin sa show ang kasamahan ni Prima Diva Billy sa Dubai na si Daniel Bautista along with Hashtag Nikko Seagal Natividad and prime comedienne Boobsie Wonderland. Ang pinaka-special guest sa FULL TANK ay si Ms. Verni Varga na makaka-duet ni Michael ng "Kahit Isang Saglit". Front act are the famous gay impersonators known to many as Pink Mannequins. Ivan Lee Espinosa will be the musical director of the show with Joey Nombres manning the lights.

"I will also do my version of Labrinth's "Jealous" as requested by my manager, si Nanay Jobert. Mukhang may hugot factor kasi ang manager ko kaya pinakiusapan niya akong kantahin ito. Baka meron lang siyang pinagdadaanan at ako ang ginagawang sangkalan through this Labrinth song. Ha! Ha! Ha!" he joked.

Prima Diva Billy on the other hand is also managed by Jobert Sucaldito, same as Michael, kaya lang she is now based in Dubai. She just came home for a short vacation and will be back sa Dubai on July 3 (2 days after the concert) kaya naisip ng manager nilang gawan sila ng back-to-back concert.

"Nakaka-proud si Michael kasi nung umalis ako, di pa siya gaanong kilala. Ngayon ay star na ang kapatid ko. Sana sa pagbalik ko next year ay mas marami pa kaming pagsasamahang shows. Sayang kasi ang kontrata ko sa Dubai kung iiwanan kong bigla. Don't worry - by next year I will be back for good. 

"Nagpagawa naman ako ng Adelle medley para sa show. Alam niyo naman si Nay Jobert, siya ang namimili ng repertoire namin. In fairness naman sa choices niya, gusto rin namin kaya ngayon, magkakasama na kami sa mutual understanding society. Ha! Ha! Ha! Pare-pareho kasi kaming musical," ani Prima Diva Billy.

Star of "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako," Michael Pangilinan on his first movie, family & love

We've known Michael Pangilinan first, as the "Harana Prince" of  local music industry due to his noticeable character, style of singing and heartfelt rendition of the song "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako," which was written and composed by Mr. Joven Tan. The song was one of the entries to the "Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs" last 2014. 

Since then, Michael was offered a lot of tv guestings, personal appearances, out of town and out of the country gigs and a lot more. Last September, 2015, he became one of the contestants in second season of ABS-CBN's singing and impersonation competition for celebrities entitled "Your Face Sounds Familiar." After 14 weeks, he emerged as the second best celebrity contestant, while the actress/ singer Denise Laurel was chosen to be the grand winner. 

Well, it was a very good and tough fight for Michael, don't you think? He really played his card so well that's why the Filipino audience had come to know and like him more. Apart from being a recording artist, I've also witnessed Michael's stage play performance via the popular and longest running musical play in the entire history of Philippine theater. His manager Mr. Jobert Sucaldito has  great confidence (me too!) in Michael's talent. And I could attest to that! I've been present in a couple of Michael or Khel's concerts with the first one entitled "Michael Sounds Familiar" and a follow-up one with the wacky title "Michael Really Sounds Familiar.' Both said concerts were a recorded jampacked and every time we watch him perform, it's always a big hit! He doesn't fail to surprise us, actually. 

And as of present time, Michael has another leaf to put on his laurel, he now have entered the movie industry which is one of his dreams, I've learned. His song "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako," is now a movie! And it was directed by the composer and also a film director, Sir Joven Tan. I've seen this most-talked about film before when it first premiered at Cine Adarna in UP Diliman last March. Hope you could also read my review about it, just click here.

The long wait is over! "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako" can now be seen via mainstream level. Michael's supporters, fans and followers can now watch the film in theaters nationwide starting June 8, 2016 with Viva Films as the distributor. But before that, we were able to attend and watch (again) the movie's premiere night held at one of the cinemas n SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

Up stage: They were given the chance to greet and thank everyone who attended their premiere showing. Fans were so excited to see them! 


A thick crowd had gathered getting ready to enter the cinema (ptc: Viva Ent) 


After watching the film for the second time, I can say that, it was still worth watching. I still find the story very interesting and entertaining! The scenes were not that heavy except of course for some confrontation ones but still not too heavy. The mood was so easy to take whle instilling moral and family values. The actors were all good and really did their job well. The chemistry of the whole cast was ununparalleled!  The comedic duo of Matt Evans and Joross Gamboa was a riot! Never imagined that these two can really pull off those funny scenes that easy, they're effortless! Kudos to all the actors and of course to Direk Joven!!! About the ending? I like it much! Hope you do too!

After the screening, we were able to briefly interview one of the stars of the movie, Michael, who was a big revelation here,  being a newbie on this field, His first lines were full of excitement and very grateful for the outcome of the movie. He said, 'Thank ypu so much! Sobrang nakakataba ng puso na ganun Ang reason sa'yo ng tao, and kung paano nila naintindihan 'yug story, paano sila kiligin, paano sila tumawa." 

He even added, "Feeling ko, sigurado ako, naniniwala ako na kahit isa sa nanood, sigurado ako na may tumagos sa puso nila. " 

Asked about the lessons that the people could get and what the story conveys, he answered, "Kahit na nagkagulo-gulo na Ang lahat ng magkakaibigan, still 'hung friendship pa rin nangingibabaw, kahit na medyo may kalokohan sa cake, may kalokohan pa rm sa salita, pero Alam mo yun, ginagawa na lang katatawanan 'yung kalokohan nila." 


His reaction towards guys getting attracted to their friends or best friends? 

"Hindi mo kailangang ipagpalit over love na may halong malice kesa sa love na alam mong respectful, happy kayo sa isa't-isa, kumbaga hindi ninyo iniisip na kapag may ibang lalaki na lumapit sa kanya syempre magseselos ka. Eh kung mag best friend kayo, lagi lang kayong nandyan para sa isa't-isa."

And now, the most awaited topic: LOVE

Just to give you a back story, before this premiere night, Michael guested on Tito Boy Abunda's "Tonight With Boy Abunda (TWBA), during his interview with Tito Boy, he frankly and confidently admitted that he and Garie Concepcion is having a bf/gf relationship. For the info of some who are clueless about Garie, she's Gabby Concepción's daughter with Ms. Grace Buma and therefore, she's KC Concepcion's half sister. Garie or Gabrielle is also making her name in the local music industry as a singer. 


Now, back to the premiere... asked about what made him decide to finally admit his relationship with Garie? 

"Sabi ko kay Tito Boy, okay lang na umamin ako pero di ko kailangang ikwento 'yung detalye ng pagmamahalan namin. At alam kong maiintindihan ninyong lahat 'yun I have my own private life and I'm happy now, we're in good terms, we're really really happy and I'm so proud of her dahil kung anuman s'ya ngayon at anuman kami ngayon, at sobrang natutuwa ako dahil nagkakintindihan kami sa trabaho, sa time management, sa decision making at sa respeto sa isa't-isa and that's it! I don't have to explain kung kelan kami naging official. Basta ang masasabi ko lang masaya ako, masaya din s'ya, at mamaya tayong lahat!"


The reason behind his lean body was that, Michael is aiming to join the "Cosmo" next year. Go Khel, you can do it!!! 

Relatioship with Garie's family and vice-versa: 

"Actually both sides we're good. Open s'ya open ako sa kanila, makakapunta ako sa kanila, nakakapunta s'ya sa amin at nakakapag-usap kami ng family ko sa family n'ya. Sa family ni Garie, tapagang wala along masasabi. Alam mo 'young tinanggap nila ako kung ano ako. 


Garie and her family's reception about his baby? 

'Yun ang pinakaminahal ko sa kanila. Mahirap makahanap ng gnun. Ako sa to too lang po ha, kunwari ako 'young babae, hindi ako maghahanap ng may anak, kasi gusto ko wala. Pero hindi, Dun ko napatunayan na talagang hindi 'young mga pangit ang tinitignan s'yo eh kung anong merong puso ka ngayon."

"And I think super matured na ako ngayon dahil kung ano 'young pinagdaanan ko before, ti-nake ko 'yun as a lesson for me and I think makakatulong sa anumang ginagawa na desisyon ko ngayon. "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako:" Fearless, funny and familiar

The popular gender-related ballad song of Michael Pangilinan, "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako," once a "Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2014" entry written by Joven M. Tan is now a full-lengrh movie written and directed by Mr. Tan himself.

Two years ago, this victorious song braved the eyes and ears of the critics, opening more doors to undertanding gender-related issues and awareness. Who would have thought that this song would become a movie one day? Ironically, the "Harana Prince," Michael Pangilinan, the singer of "Pare..." is also one of the lead actors of the film. 

My first time to see and meet Khel (Michael) in person was the time I get to watch him perform in a musical play entitled "Kanser @35"  staged at the AFP theater in Camp Aguinaldo. As a newbie in that field, Khel has passed his role as Crisostomo Ibarra with flying colors. Last February 22, I got the great chance to watch the premiere screening of "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako," the movie. It was a well-attended movie screening held at the Cine Adarna of UP Theater in Diliman, Quezon City.

My Movie Review of "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako"

Michael Pangilinan as Red

Having watched Michael Pangilinan in a full-length movie other than in a musical play or in a music video or in a tv show, I find him very refreshing. A raw talent that can be honed to a T. He's so relaxed and confident of his acting. He exhibits the right reactions and interacts with his co-actors swiftly.

As always, Edgar Allan Guzman is in his most fitting acting ability. According to him, he had other several gay roles before and that portraying like one is not a new thing for him, except that in "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako," he portrays a closet queen. So that makes it as another challenge for him. And I'm so glad to share to you, amazing dear readers, that EA (Edgar Allan), did not break our expectations. He is really a pro and at times you'll be carried away with his emotions. 'Atta boy! 


Fearless

The last gender-related movie that I've watched was "Brokeback Mountain," it was in the year 2005, it is a romantic drama, yes, but it paved the way for some people to come out of their shells, be true to themselves and be accepted by the society. It was somehow a Rated R film since it contains some intimate scenes between the two male lead stars Heath Ledger (+) and Jake Gyllenhaal. 

The second movie that I get to watch with the same theme, was "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako." I consider this film as fearless because, from the mere title itself,  "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako," which means "Dude, I've learned that you do love me." is obviously a gender conscious movie. But what makes it different from other flicks of the same genre? 

You see, the movie started with Michael (Red) and Edgar Allan (Mark) as childhood friends then as they mature, they became best of friends. Even as a boy, Mark has established a soft inclination with Red, but the latter wasn't aware of it.

It took real huge guts for Mark to admit to Red about his feelings. 

Trina "Hopia" Legaspi

Trina plays a girl bestie to Mark, whom he confides about his hidden feelings for Red. She always gives him a push to be true to himself and to Red as well. She says, Red deserves to know his real feelings and Mark should be open to his bestfriend.

Conquering one's fear like fear of losing someone you love is one of the lessons in the movie. Mark can't reveal his real identity and feelings towards his bestfriend Red, for fear of he might lose him, or curse him once he get to know the real "Mark."

Sometimes, we have to conquer our fears in order to be fearless. Because we might regret the things we never tried to do or conquer. We should give it a push while it's not too late. 


Funny

There was never a dull moment. I tell you, I can guarantee to that. Big plus is the inclusion of Matt Evans, Joross Gamboa and hashtag Nikko Natividad to the cast. They portray the role of Red and Mark's friends. 

The happy-go-lucky, not-so-wholesome and funny characters of these three had brought additional entertainment to the story. Most especially everytime when Matt and Joross open their mouth, they utter some real foul but reality-based lingos that's why us, and the rest of the audience had a bunch of laughs with every scene they're in. They make everthing light and funny, to compensate to the other character's moods.

There was this one scene which I'd like you to look forward to and be keen on the characters' gestures. Take note of the scene of Superstar Nora Aunor, Ana Capri and Edgar Allan in their dining area. That's it! Just watch it, okay haha that's all I can give. 

Familiar

With every character in the story, we can relate to them. Like me, the character of Ms. Nora Aunor is a single mom who only wants what's best for his son. And in the case of Red, I guess some men could also relate to him, having a close friend who turned out to be a closet queen. In this case, you can collect pointers from Red, how did he manage to accept his bestfriend Mark despite of the surprising revelation. 

Actually, for me, that's the highlight of the story. Mark's revelation of his true feelings and his real gender to his bestfriend Red. And how will Red react to the scenario? You've got to find out for yourself. 

As of Mark's case, some also can relate to his character. I guess if you'd heed Trina's advice, there will be no closet queens that are up to this present time are still hiding from their closets and scared that the society and their family might not accept them. 

I came out of the theater happy and satisfied. And I'm pretty sure that the LGBTcommunity would agree with me. This film may be a gender-related one, yes, but I consider this one a "clean slate." Everybody deserves due respect and kind understanding regardless of one's gender or sexuality. This is the reality dude. 


Let us not complicate life. Let's all appreciate how amazing life is!
