PayMaya powers online donations for Kain Tayo, Pilipinas!

August 8, 2021

Alleviating hunger with cashless technologies

As part of its mission to enable "digital bayanihan," PayMaya has equipped the Kain Tayo, Pilipinas! private sector-led campaign with online donation acceptance, allowing citizens to donate using their PayMaya account and any credit, debit, and prepaid card as well as other e-wallets.

Kain Tayo, Pilipinas! is a flagship program under the Pilipinas Kontra Gutom (PKG) movement, led by private corporations, media, non-government organizations, together with the Department of Education, the Department of Science and Technology’s Food and Nutrition Research Institute, and the National Nutrition Council. PayMaya is one of the key private sector partners supporting this effort.

The campaign, launched in time for the Philippine National Nutrition Month, is another milestone for the country’s public and private sectors to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030, following the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. It aims to feed more Filipino children and equip families with nutrition information to help alleviate malnutrition, especially amongst children 5 years and below.

PayMaya users can now donate by simply scanning the PayMaya QR in the website using their app. Anyone from around the world can also contribute to the campaign using any debit, credit, or prepaid card as well as any e-wallet through the Kain Tayo, Pilipinas! website via the PayMaya Checkout online payment gateway. Donations via PayMaya platforms for Kain Tayo, Pilipinas! are accepted by the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) as the campaign's donation acceptance partner.

Funds raised through the campaign will be distributed to non-profit organizations such as ABS-CBN Foundation, Gawad Kalinga, GMA Kapuso Foundation, Kabisig ng Kalahi, PBSP, Project Pearls, Rise Against Hunger Philippines, and UN’s World Food Programme. These organizations will, in turn, distribute meals to target beneficiaries.

“The Kain Tayo, Pilipinas! campaign aims to holistically address the issue of hunger and malnutrition in the country. With PayMaya's digital payment technologies, we can accept donations not just from PayMaya users but also from any cardholder, even those from overseas,” said Private Sector Lead of Pilipinas Kontra Gutom Margot Torres.

“Ensuring that each Filipino is getting enough nutrition from their meals is an enormous task. We, at PayMaya, are glad to be part of the Kain Tayo, Pilipinas! campaign to help achieve Zero Hunger by 2030 for the Philippines. Enabling this campaign with our digital payment technologies is in line with our mission of using financial technologies to make the lives of every Filipino better,” said Shailesh Baidwan, PayMaya President.

PayMaya has been leading the charge in enabling various non-profit organizations and communities through 'digital bayanihan' with its cashless technologies. It has provided the non-profit sector with solutions to digitalize transactions, allowing it to disburse cash to an ewallet account for emergency and relief response. Last year, under its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility program #PayMayaItForward, it launched the #OneAgainstCOVID, #OneForTaal, and #TyphoonRelief online donation campaigns to help over 50 donation partners to raise funds through PayMaya's online donation channels--the PayMaya website, donate.paymaya.com; PayMaya QR code; and through the Donation tile in the PayMaya app.

PayMaya is the only end-to-end digital payments ecosystem enabler in the Philippines, with platforms and services that cut across consumers, merchants, communities, and government.  It provides more than 38 million Filipinos with access to financial services through its consumer platforms. Customers can conveniently pay, add money, cash out or remit through its over 250,000 digital touchpoints nationwide.

Its Smart Padala by PayMaya network of over 45,000 partner agent touchpoints serves as last-mile digital financial hubs in communities, providing the unbanked and underserved access to digital services. Through its enterprise business, it is the largest digital payments processor for key industries in the country, including "every day" merchants such as the largest retail, food, gas, and eCommerce merchants, as well as government agencies and units.

Pay it forward to our modern-day heroes with PayMaya

May 20, 2021

Medical frontliners are the modern-day heroes in our ongoing battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. As they continue to save lives of our kababayans, we can stand behind them by practicing health safety measures and utilizing technology.

Utilizing digital apps like PayMaya are making it easier for Filipinos to participate in bayanihan movements for the community – this includes making donations to organizations whose beneficiaries are healthcare workers. Here are some of the ways you can show support to our medical frontliners, with the help of PayMaya:

1. Practice safety health standards in your day-to-day activities

The easiest and sure way to curb the spread of the virus is by keeping ourselves within the safety of our homes and staying healthy. We must always ensure that we follow safety health standards in our daily activities.

One way to keep ourselves safe is by going cashless. With apps like PayMaya, you can easily pay your utility and government bills, send money to your loved ones, purchase essentials at the PayMaya Mall, and even buy prepaid load with just your mobile phone--no need to go out to do these transactions.

2. Donate to initiatives supporting medical frontliners

Many of PayMaya's partner organizations, including the Philippine Red Cross, PGH Medical Foundation, PLDT-Smart Foundation, and Alagang Kapatid Foundation, have initiated programs supporting our healthcare workers. Their initiatives provided care packages, food, supplies, and medical kits to frontliners.

Today, you can easily support the Philippine Red Cross, PGH Medical Foundation, PLDT-Smart Foundation, Alagang Kapatid Foundation, and other similar orgnanizations using your PayMaya account. All you have to do is go to the Bills feature of your PayMaya app, choose Donations, and select the organization you’d like to donate to. Simply key in '00000' as the account number and enter your donation amount, then proceed to complete your donation.

If you are abroad or would prefer to use your card to donate, you can go to PayMaya's donation website, https://donate.paymaya.com/ . In the site, you can choose from PayMaya's 50 Donation Partners with COVID-19 relief and response efforts and donate to their cause using any Visa, Mastercard, and JCB credit, debit, and prepaid cards, or other e-wallets.

3. Purchase digital products at PayMaya’s in-app shop to provide meals to medical frontliners

From May 18-20, 2021, PayMaya is doing a flash donation for our frontliners. Each time you purchase digital products such as telco load, gaming pins, on-demand content credits, and transportation credits from the in-app PayMaya Shop, the digital payments company will donate Php1 on your behalf to build a pool of fund to distribute packed meals to a total of 10,000 medical frontliners of 26 public hospitals for five days. This initiative, in partnership with PLDT-Smart Foundation, Alagang Kapatid Foundation, and Cignal, is a way to pay tribute to our modern-day heroes who work tirelessly to save lives of COVID-19 patients.

4. Make an emergency donation to the Philippine General Hospital through the PGH Medical Foundation

One of the PGH’s pay ward was recently struck with fire that damaged a portion of its facilities and displaced patients. It has called for food, non-food, and cash donations. You can extend your help to the PGH through the PayMaya donation channels of PGH Medical Foundation. You can simply visit pymy.co/pghmedicalfoundation to donate using any credit, debit, or prepaid card or go to the Bills page in the PayMaya app to make a donation (Go to Bills > Tap Donations > Choose PGH Medical Foundation > Enter ‘00000’ in the Account Number field and put the amount you wish to donate).

Let's show our support to our medical frontliners by doing safer cashless and contactless transactions. Together, let's stand as #OneAgainstCOVID19.

PayMaya and beep™ team up to provide safer, contactless commute for all

July 22, 2020

Digital financial services leader PayMaya Philippines partners with beep™ to provide commuters a safer way to load up their beep™ cards.

Commuters can enjoy a safe and contactless commute by simply purchasing their beep™ load packages on the PayMaya app. With this load up method, there is no longer a need for face-to-face interactions with the teller, as well as exchange of cash, which can contribute to the further spread of the virus.

PayMaya users can choose among three beep™ load packages on their PayMaya app: P100, P250, and P500 with an additional P5 convenience fee. To buy a load package on PayMaya, simply follow these easy steps:

1. Tap treats on the app homepage
2. Select a beep™ card load package
3. Input your beep™ card number, then tap continue
4. Wait for a purchase confirmation in-app and via SMS
5. Head over to a beep™ e-load station and tap your card to receive the load package.

Once the beep™ card is loaded, it can already be used on LRT 1, LRT 2, MRT 3, as well as in Point-to-Point (P2P) and Metro Manila city buses. There’s also a growing number of modern PUVs, among other transportation modes, that accept beep™ cards as a payment method.

AF Payments Head of Business Development, Sharon Fong said, “We recognize the challenges and health risks that the daily Filipino commuter faces during the pandemic. We want to help mitigate those health risks by promoting contactless commuting. So instead of paying for your fare with cash that gets passed around by different people, you just tap your beep™ card. Loading your card is also safer and more convenient when you use cashless options, such as PayMaya.”

“As the country reopens, more Filipinos are starting to go back to work and use public transportation. At PayMaya, we’re committed to making cashless options widely available in the transportation sector in order to promote a safer and more convenient commute for the public. Our partnership with beep™ is just one of the many steps we are taking to achieve this goal,” said Shailesh Baidwan, PayMaya President.

Apart from PayMaya, commuters can also reload their beep™ cards through select Smart Padala agents in their neighborhood for a quick and convenient transaction. All they have to do is follow these simple steps:

1. Go to your trusted Smart Padala agent and ask if beep load packages are available.
2. Give the beep™ card account number and load amount. You can load P100, P250, and P500.
3. Pay for the load amount with the additional P10 service fee.
4. Head over to a beep™ e-load station and tap your card to receive the purchased load.

PayMaya has previously announced its support to the directive released by the Department of Transportation and the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board mandating the use of contactless payments in public utility vehicles as part of the measures in what is dubbed as the “new normal."

In June, it has entered into an agreement ride-hailing app hirna and its partner taxi drivers to be able to accept cashless payments from its customers via PayMaya QR.

PayMaya has also previously equipped taxi operators in Metro Manila, Cebu, and Baguio with contactless payments, and enabled the first digital bus ticketing system with the Araneta Bus Port for cashless payments through credit and debit cards as well as via PayMaya QR.

PayMaya is the only end-to-end digital payments ecosystem enabler in the Philippines with platforms and services that cut across consumers, merchants, and government. Aside from providing payments acceptance for the largest e-Commerce, food, retail and gas merchants in the Philippines, PayMaya enables national and social services agencies as well as local government units with digital payments and disbursement services.

Through its app and wallet, PayMaya provides millions of Filipinos with the fastest way to own a financial account with over 40,000 Add Money touchpoints nationwide, more than double the total number of traditional bank branches in the Philippines combined. Its Smart Padala by PayMaya network of over 30,000 partner touchpoints nationwide serves as last mile digital financial hubs in communities, providing the unbanked and underserved with access to services.
