November 16, 2023

Filipinos have always eagerly anticipated Christmas and most consider this as their favorite time of the year. In fact, the Philippines is known as the country with the longest celebration of Christmas!

To further make the holiday season more joyful, Jollibee launched its Christmas campaign last October. With the theme of “Make it Christmas with Jollibee Joy” – it highlights how everyday moments can be occasions to celebrate the joy of the season.

“We want to make sure our customers feel the warmth and joy of the season, be it through our delicious food or their delightful experiences whenever they go to a Jollibee store. We want to remind everyone that even the simplest of joys can make this Christmas extra meaningful and wonderful if it is shared with loved ones”, says Dorothy Dee-Ching, VP - Marketing of Jollibee.

Brightening the Holiday season across the country
One other proof of Pinoys love for the holidays is their penchant for bright Christmas lights and colorful decorations, all of which adds to the happy and festive atmosphere. We are both dedicated to offering delightful food and beverages to all, with the same commitment to making the world better and brighter. We invite you to explore Jollibee’s festive stores, perfect for celebrating the Filipino spirit this Christmas season”, said Tony del Rosario, Coca Cola Philippines President.

The Jollibee BGC branch went all out with joyful carolers, lively light dance performances, and the ever-adorable mascots to create an unforgettable holiday celebration. Jollibee celebrity endorsers Anne Curtis, Maja Salvador, and Gary Valenciano also joined the festivities and enjoyed the bright lights and colorful displays of the store.

“We launched our Joyful Christmas Stores nationwide so that customers can feel and experience the joy and spirit of the season with their families and friends. Hidilyn Diaz inspires the nation anew with her very own Kwentong Jollibee “Ginto”

October 26, 2021

When weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz won the country’s first gold medal after a near century-long wait at the Olympics, Filipinos from all over the globe rejoiced and celebrated her historic triumph. Hidilyn’s winning lift, which also set a new Olympic record, was a result of years of hard work, resilience, and dedication that she put into reaching her dream.

And this inspiring journey of Hidilyn—with all the challenges she had to overcome—is at the center of the latest Kwentong Jollibee short film entitled “Ginto”. Jollibee, in collaboration with its partner agency McCann Worldgroup Philippines, hopes to share Hidilyn’s story to bring joy and inspiration to every Filipino.

Looking back on her humble beginnings
Hidilyn vividly remembers when she first started training. “Ang gamit kong weights noon ay mga gallon ng tubig. Mayroon akong mahabang bakal, ‘yun ang bar ko, tapos sa magkabila ay mga bote na may lamang tubig o kaya buhangin,” said Hidilyn. There were a lot of challenges at the start of her career, she shared, and many instances when she wanted to give up. But these did not discourage her.

Her hard work paid off when she bagged the silver medal in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.

“Noong nanalo ako sa Rio, doon mas naging malinaw sa akin na maraming nakababatang atleta na nakatingin sa akin para sa inspirasyon. Kaya sabi ko, hindi ako pwedeng sumuko. Ilalaban ko hanggang makuha natin ang pinakamimithing ginto,” said Hidilyn.

Reliving her winning moment
To launch the short film “Ginto”, Jollibee held a virtual press conference last October 14. Seeing the film in full for the first time, the Olympic champion was touched to have witnessed her story from the lens of a viewer. “Naiyak po talaga ako, lalo na yung doon sa part na chini-cheer ako ng mga frontliners, ng mga bata. Masaya po ako na na-inspire.

Hidilyn Diaz gets emotional while watching her Kwentong Jollibee “Ginto” and the surprise greetings from her loved ones

The image of Hidilyn clenching her fists in victory will forever be remembered by the whole nation. With “Ginto”, she got to relive this moment, along with the challenges she had to overcome leading to the Tokyo Olympics.

Through “Ginto,” Hidilyn hopes to encourage people to use “lakas at puso”
In going through life’s challenges

When asked how it was like re-enacting her own journey, Hidilyn said, “Bumalik lahat ng emotions — ‘yung saya, ‘yung hirap, at ‘yung pagpapalakas ng mga tao na tumulong sa akin para maabot ko yung pangarap ko.” To her, starring in her own Kwentong Jollibee short film was like another chance to relive her winning moment. “Masaya dahil ibang experience din for me ‘yung mag-act and rewarding dahil nakita ko ‘yung personal journey ko through another lens,” she added.

Long-time Kwentong Jollibee and award-winning director Pepe Diokno said it was a great honor to work on this project. “I’ve done a lot of Kwentong Jollibee films, and each story is different. But what sets ‘Ginto’ apart is that it’s a story of a sports icon that’s being revealed to the world. Hidilyn’s journey to success is the inspiration we need in these difficult times, and I treasure that I was able to do it with her and of course, Jollibee,” shared Direk Pepe.

Beyond her golden win
Now, with multiple awards and recognition, what more does a Hidilyn Diaz dream of? “For me, gusto ko po makatapos ng aking studies,” she said. At present, Hidilyn is taking up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. “Gusto ko po makuha ang aking diploma at makapag-develop pa ng training schools para sa mga aspiring na atleta gaya ko noong nag-uumpisa ako. Nandito pa rin ako kasi weightlifting ang passion ko at gusto kong i-share ito sa mga kabataan,” Hidilyn added. She also mentioned plans of setting up an outreach activity similar to a community pantry in the coming months.

Hidilyn’s Kwentong Jollibee special “Ginto” serves as a reminder that Filipinos can rise above challenges through “lakas at puso,” armed with the love and support of those around them.

Hidilyn’s celebrity Idol, Maja Salvador, warmly welcomes her to the Jollibee family

Real-life best friends Kim and Maja spells “rivalry” in “Ina, Kapatid, Anak”

After the unprecedented success of the tv series “My Binondo Girl” in ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida of Kim Chiu and Maja Salvador’s PHR presents “Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin,” the two real-life best friends will spice up your weeknights once again via their newest teleseries “Ina, Kapatid, Anak,” starting tonight, October 8, 2012, Monday after "Walang Hanggan."

The story’s plot will definitely hit every Filipino’s hearts and lives, since it tackles everything about love, family, friendship and sisterhood. It is also a story of power, rivalry and acceptance. Kim plays the role of Celine, a poor but very optimistic young girl, according to her, “In our teleserye, the audience will learn how to value their families and how to achieve their dreams. I’ve never done a character like Celine who’s so loud and talkative. If in “My Binondo Girl,” I portrayed a sweet and relatively well-off girl; here in ‘Ina Kapatid Anak,’ I am super poor.”

On the other hand, Maja plays Margaux, a rich and glamorous lass who’ll make Celine’s simple life very complicated. Maja shared, “All Margaux’s things are glittery, but eventually the viewers will discover what’s really inside her mind and heart. What’s interesting about our (Kim and Maja) characters is that both Celine and Margaux are born fighters and they do not allow their families to be maltreated by anyone.” Pretty Maja even added that, viewers should watch out if she will be a wicked bida-kontrabida in the story.

My pass to the advance screening held last October 4, 2012. :))
 Thanks Flow Galindez and ABS-CBN.

We’ll be expecting more confrontation scenes from these on and off cam bffs, isn’t that exciting? It’s as exciting as the two lovely ladies’ love interests, Xian Lim who plays Liam in the story, will be reunited with the “apple” of his eye, Kim Chiu (take note KimXis!); while Enchong Dee who plays Ethan will be paired with Maja Salvador for the first time. Hmmm... really something to look forward to huh! :))

Ina, Kapatid, Anak is relatively based from the movie of same title in 1979 starring the late Charito Solis and Lolita Rodriguez under Regal Films. This tv series is however directed by Don Cuaresma and Jojo Saguin of the fantasy drama, “100 Days to Heaven,” and written by Danica Domingo of “Tayong Dalawa.” Joining the powerhouse cast are highly acclaimed seasoned actors Janice de Belen, Cherry Pie Picache and Ariel Rivera; well respected veteran stars Ronaldo Valdez, Pilar Pilapil and Eddie Gutierrez.

We all come from our own mothers... majority of us have also siblings... and eventually, we’ll be having our own children. “Ina, Kapatid, Anak” is the tv series for everybody. Soon, it will be the “trending topic” of every household. It is a story that everyone can relate to.

“#My Cactus Heart” will definitely ease the thorns in You!

During the “#My Cactus Heart” Bloggers Conference held just recently at Max’s Restaurant in Q.C., the reel and real life sweethearts were so amiable, funny and so pleasing to our sight, even Direk Enrico Santos was so energetic and  awesome despite the morning schedule (brunch, actually) we had.

Direk Enrico Santos, Maja Salvador and Matteo Guidicelli during the Bloggers Conference

Direk was so fond of Maja and Matteo and when I asked about his unforgettable moments with the two, off cam while filming “#My Cactus Heart,” he has a lot to share to. Matteo was so surprised when direk had unintentionally spoken about Matteo being “good-timed” by  Maja, according to direk, she had him as an accomplice to “good time” Matteo most of the time especially when the handsome host of HYY (Happy, Yipee, Yehey) was not should we say, “in the mood.”

Matteo vehemently told us that, in a relationship, it’s always the guy who’s in “fault” and has to do the “first move.” Maja was so chuckling while hearing those lines from her loving bf. But on the other hand, she was so proud and happy having Matteo around and always there for her, she shared -  “he is so malambing” as she calls him “my boyfriend,” and with that, Matt had extremely blushed ;-) (kilig!)

Maja: "my boyfriend" referring to Matteo

Matteo blushes (kilig much!)

Let’s go on with the brief background of the movie: “#My Cactus Heart” is  a comedy drama top billed by the country’s most exciting stars. The story is all about the girl, Sandy (Maja Salvador) from a troubled family. She doesn't believe in “happily ever after” effects. She accepts and firmly believes that love only hurts and would do harm that’s why she’s tagged as the girl who consistently refuses to love and turns down (busts) men who pursues her. But what if someone comes along and will make her question what she believes in? What is she supposed to do? Can that someone change her jaded heart?

Maja is one of the most talented actresses we have around. Maja is so versatile! She can do drama, comedy, horror, romance. Her teleseryes last 2011 were all top-raters ("Impostor" and “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin"), and her big and newest teleserye for this year, “PHR’s Lumayo Ka Man sa Akin” is now being aired over ABS-CBN top-billed with Jason Abalos and comebacking Kapamilya Patrick Garcia.

As for Matteo (Karlo), "My Cactus Heart", is his first starring role. We have all seen him in his past teleseryes too and he has indeed proven that he is more than just a pretty face with a promising singing career, not to forget huh! As Karlo, we can now all see why he could just be the next important male lead star!

Xian Lim is being introduced in this movie, who’s now also being considered as one of the most promising new male stars today. He plays Bene, one of the two men who will try to win over Sandy’s heart.

Based from the story, Sandy is being swooned by Karlo and she is slowly falling for him, so she purposely turned her attention to Bene just to escape or get away from her “inept” feeling towards Karlo. So, who would ease the “cactus” from Sandy’s heart? Would these “thorns” torn her between two loves? Who can make her believe that there is “happily ever after?”
Exciting love story, fresh casting combination! That’s “#My Cactus Heart” which Star Cinema is now being proud of to present. This romantic-comedy is directed by Enrico Santos and is showing in over 100 theaters nationwide.

"Eto na ang pinakamatinik na love story ngayong 2012!!!"

MAJA SALVADOR STARS IN PHR’S “LUMAYO KA MAN SA AKIN” with JASON ABALOS and PATRICK GARCIA

This year is indeed Maja Salvador’s year. The year of the Water Dragon has brought her a great welcome and winning start. Aside from her first starring movie this year, “#My Cactus Heart,” with her reel and real love partner, Matteo Guidicelli and the fast-rising hunk Xian Lim showing on January 25, Wednesday.

Maja sizzles weekday afternoons heat up once more as the International Emmy-nominated Precious Hearts Romances (PHR) series returns with yet another intense and romantic love story in “Precious Hearts Romances presents Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin” which premieres today, January 23, Monday over ABS-CBN.
“Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin” marks the return of the Precious Hearts Romances series, which is the only Asian series to be nominated in the prestigious International Emmy Awards last year for “Impostor’ that was topbilled by Maja.
Joining Maja as her leading men in the PHR series are premiere dramatic actor Jason Abalos and Patrick Garcia, who is staging a comeback as a Kapamilya five years after he was last seen on ABS-CBN’s “Kampanerang Kuba” and “Darating ang Umaga.”

Also joining with them are Ina Raymundo who’s ever sophisticated and still have that “Sabado Night” appeal, and surprisingly, a mother of four! Ooohh la la! She’d had opted to take a rest for awhile from showbiz to be a full-time mom. Other members of the cast include Ariel Rivera, Ina Feleo, Kathleen Hermosa, Toby Alejar, Mico Palanca, Bettina Carlos and John Arcilla.

The intriguing story depicts of a character, Janine, played by Maja who’s in search of her biological mother, Consuelo played by Ina Raymundo having learned from her father, Maurice played by Ariel Rivera of the “ugly truth” about the love angle that occurred between her mother and father. She then begins to travel her own life journey experiencing the struggles, conflicts, romance and disputes as she’s being torn between two “loves” of her life, Matthew De Vega played by Patrick Garcia and Jake Falcon played by Jason Abalos.

Who do you think will Janine choose to be her life-partner? You’ll discover the answers only if you catch “Precious Hearts Romances presents Lumayo Ka Sa Akin” starting today, Monday, it’s gonna be every weekday afternoons after “Pinoy Big Brother Unliday” on ABS-CBN.
