BPI Direct BanKo Financial Inclusion and Microfinance Head Rodolfo Mabiasen, Jr., BPI Direct BanKo President Jerome Minglana, Philippine Trade Training Center Executive Director Nelly Nita Dillera, and BPI Foundation Executive Director Owen Cammayo signed the Memorandum of Agreement for the BPI SEAL-SEGA program during its launch at the PTTC Building in Pasay City.

BPI Foundation, the social development arm of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), sealed a partnership with BPI Direct BanKo, the microfinance arm of BPI, the Philippine Trade Training Center – Global MSME Academy (PTTC-GMEA), and the Department of Trade and Industry – Regional Operation Group (DTI-ROG) to empower micro and small enterprises (MSEs) through its Small Enterprise Acceleration Lab – Business Expansion thru Training and Application or SEAL-BETA program.

BPI SEAL-BETA is a comprehensive integrated training program designed exclusively for qualified micro and small enterprises affected by the pandemic that seek to rebuild and expand their businesses. It aims to equip MSEs with a resilient outlook on business, and to assist entrepreneurs in creating their sustainability plans and in rebuilding and expanding their businesses through access to loans from BPI Direct BanKo.

The representatives of BPI Foundation, BPI Direct BanKo, and PTTC together with the micro enterprises present during the launch of SEAL-SEGA.

For this pilot run, SEAL-BETA will focus on micro enterprises located in Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Eastern Visayas, SOCCSKSARGEN, and the National Capital Region (NCR).

Globe steps up advocacies vs online bullying to protect Filipino children

September 4,2022

Digital solutions platform Globe intensifies its commitment to online safety, enjoining the academe, mental health professionals, parents and guardians, and other key partners to protect Filipino children against cyberbullying. Due to the pervasiveness of bullying on digital platforms, Globe noted the need for parents and caregivers to understand their role in keeping children safe online. “As Globe empowers our 92 million customers to use technology for every need, we urge everyone to use digital communication channels for good and teach our young people to do the same. Our connectedness comes with it being a responsible digital citizen, and that communicating with respect, intention, and impact is first taught at home,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications
Officer.

Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, calls on the
public to use digital channels for good in Globe's The Family as the Safety Net webinar against
cyberbullying of Filipino youth.

It takes a village to keep children protected online. The panel discussion at the webinar shows (clockwise) host Nina Corpuz-Rodriguez, Dr. Francine Bofill of KonsultaMD, Atty. Irish
Salandanan-Almeida of Globe, Amanda Griffin Jacob of Glam-o-Mamas, and Mommy GL and
Daddy Ranilo of Usapang Nanay.

The company has launched the www.makeitsafe.ph portal to stop cyberbullying by making available the A-Z of Cyberbullying glossary. The glossary is buildable, and
anyone can add words to inform other parents on terms to watch out for. The
microsite has received 12,000 hits since it was launched last July 18. Parents can get more guidance on helping children be safe and responsible online through parent-focused Globe Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) e-modules on the microsite. DTP promotes digital citizenship and cyber safety among the youth. “We leverage technology with the help of our key partners to protect the youth. We are equipping our customers— parents, caregivers, and guardians— to address cyberbullying by helping them understand the rapidly developing online language used by children through digital channels,” said RG Orense, Head of Digital and Social Channel Strategy at Globe.

Amanda Griffin Jacob, founder of popular Facebook community Glam-o-Mamas, announced its partnership with Globe to empower parents and guardians to be better digital allies of their
children.

Globe further equips parents with the proper knowledge to address the issue through its partnership with two of the most influential online parenting communities on Facebook —- Glam-O-Mommas, a community with 44,500 active members owned by model and TV personality Amanda Griffin-Jacob; and Usapang Nanay, a community of 519,000 members, run by the husband and wife duo of Mommy GL and Daddy Ranilo Guardiano. It has also started sharing its new #makeITsafePH campaign materials on cyberbullying to partners in the academe, showing them to teachers and parentsduring parent seminars. The materials have collectively been viewed 113 million times on social media, particularly TikTok and Facebook, over the past one and a half months. This is among its initiatives to protect minors from cyber violence, which includes bullying and online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC), in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 on inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all, and UN SDG No. 17, which highlights the value of partnerships in achieving sustainable
development goals. The advocacy is strongly supported by well-known celebrities, movie personalities, and athletes including Kim Atienza, Gretchen Fullido, Edu Manzano, Pia
Guanio-Mago, Ryan Eigenmann, Arlene Muhlach, Cai Cortez, Kiray Celis, Gillian Vicencio, Sophie Reyes, Alora Sasam, JC Alcantara, Melizza Jimenez, Gian Magdangal, Aby Marano, Junemar Fajardo, and Japeth Aguilar.

Atty. Irish Salandanan-Almeida, Chief Privacy Officer of Globe, shared Globe's initiatives to
protect customers' data privacy and overall online safety.

Dr. Francine Bofill of KonsultaMD shares about the mental health toll of cyberbullying among
Filipino youth. She also shared how the number of children and minors asking for mental health
support increased during the pandemic.

Social media influencers Dr. Kilimanguru, Mela Habijan, and Reb Atadero have also joined the fight against online bullying. Globe also understands that violence against children, such as cyberbullying, has devastating effects on the physical and emotional well-being of young people. Because of this, Globe has partnered with its telemedicine platform KonsultaMD to
provide mental wellness support to parents, guardians, and victims of cyberbullying.

Users can redeem one free session with a licensed KonsultaMD mental health
professional 24/7 using the promo code MAKEITSAFEPH.. The Digital 2022 report from We Are Social and Hootsuite ranks the Philippines as the second most active country on social media. But it was also just behind
Thailand in the ranking of countries worldwide where children are highly exposed to online
risks and without sufficient skills to cope with cyber threats. A poll conducted by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) a few years ago showed one-third of cyberviolence experienced by Filipino children is in the form of
verbal abuse over the internet or cell phone, while a fourth is through sexual messages. Another study conducted by Cornell University and University of California, Berkeley
found that parents underestimate how often their child is a victim or perpetrator of
cyberbullying, exposed to sexual imagery and approached by strangers online.

Ayala Malls Market! Market! presents ‘Obras Filipinas’

August 31, 2022

In honor of the Philippines’ beauty showcased from the handiworks of local artisans, Ayala Malls Market! Market! presents “Obras Filipinas.”

Market! Market! is known for housing several themed bazaars, outlets, and bargain stores that guarantee goers a unique shopping experience. This year, it provides a home for the festive costumes made by promising and exceptional Filipino couturiers through Obras Filipinas.

The exhibit comprises three categories: Filipiniana, national costumes, and ethnic-inspired. Various outfits from different regions will be presented, tributing our history, culture, ethnic origins, and religious practices.

Moreover, this event coincides with the Buwan ng Wika celebration. Currently, it is being held at the Market! Market! Activity Center in BGC, Taguig City until August 28.

Obras Filipinas is a gathering of local designers whose artistry parallels our colorful customs and traditions. At the moment, the festivity displays many fabric ensembles depicting authentic Filipino culture.

A peek at the 'Ating Kasuotan' exhibit

For instance, JP Chua's creation reimagines the scary image often expected from local folklore. She proved that a half-human and half-horse creature like Tikbalang could be an eerie but phenomenal clothing inspiration.

Likewise, Er Stephen Alvarado's version of the mythical Ibong Adarna is as colorful as its story and purpose. Not only does it pay homage to the beauty of the Mayon Volcano, but it's a symbol for the LGBTQ+ community.

In addition, some costumes in the exhibit adhere to the religious beliefs of Filipinos, like Marbin Garcia's "Queen Elena." According to the Bulakan, Bulacan native, it depicts the search for the cross of Christ and the creativity of the province's Singkaban Festival. The ensemble was hailed the Best in National Costume last Miss World Philippines 2022.
.

Meanwhile, it's a different feeling when our nostalgia comes to its physical form. One can reminisce childhood through the "Taho Warrior" ensemble made by designer Erjohn de la Serna. He also created "Hulya," worn by Julia Saubier, which won the award for Best in National Costume during the Miss Universe Philippines 2022.

Speaking of an award, Edwin Uy, known in the industry for his victorious pieces, will also parade some of his outstanding creations. He is exhibiting his Golden Philippine Eagle gown that clinched the title Best in National Costume at the Miss Global 2016.

The rest of Obras Filipinas’ featured designers are the following:

Basil Malicsi
Bibay Bautista
Carl Arcusa
Cathy Mora Capistrano
Dee Jay Abustan
Ehrran Montoya
Gil Granado
Ira Baylon
Jandy Roman
Jehrick dela Roca
Jeric Sayno

Mikee Andrei

With the exhibit still ongoing since August 22, many other masterpieces enveloped with inspiring stories are waiting for you at the Market! Market! Activity Center. Now is the chance to witness firsthand the talent and craftsmanship of our very own Filipino designers.
Catch the Obras Filipinas grand culminating show titled “Pistang Fiesta Parada ng Pambansang Kasuotan” on August 28, 5 pm.  Mabuhay, and see you there!

MOTHERS MAKE THEIR FAMILY’S DREAMS COME TRUE THROUGH DIRECT SELLING

Direct sellers of Personal Collection recount how their livelihoods as dealers paved the way to giving their own families the life they used to dream of.
Mothers have always been known to put the interest of their families above everything else. They go great lengths to make sure their loved ones are taken care of and well provided for.

This mindset is very evident in the inspiring way Virginia Farulan and Jonilin Ravelo made ends meet to give their families the life they deserve. Both dealers of Personal Collection, Virginia and Jonilin persevered through life’s challenges in order to fulfill their big dreams.

For ten years, Viriginia would wake up at four in the morning to sell food from the market. No matter how difficult it was and how meager her earnings were, she had to keep on working as a vendor so she could send her kids to school.

Virginia Farulan, 56 years old, Mother of five, former food vendor now a Great Life Executive at Personal Collection

“Pangarap ko po talaga na maiahon ang pamilya ko. Sobrang hirap, pero nagtiyaga at nagsumikap po ako para maka-aral ang mga anak ko,” says Virginia.
With the dream of a better life for her family always in mind, she took the chance of signing up as a dealer of Personal Collection. As a new dealer, she started out by selling a few essential products from Personal Collection’s wide array of offerings. To her surprise, she successfully sold them all easily.

“Madali lang pala ibenta, kasi mura na, quality pa,” she says. “Tuwing umaattend po ako ng meeting, namamangha po ako kasi napakaraming sales nung mga kilala ko. Naging interesado po ako. Sabi ko, aalamin ko rin kung paano nila ginagawa ang business.”

Virginia persevered in making progress with her sales while recruiting others. Slowly yet surely, she rose through the ranks and was promoted to Great Life Manager. Eventually, she attained the highest title of Great Life Executive. But her biggest achievement by far is having her children graduate from college.
“Nakapagpaaral po ako ng limang anak. Meron po akong IT, Business Management, Architecture, at Psychology graduates. Yung bunso ko, pa-graduate na. Napakalaking tulong ng Personal Collection. Yung kita ko over the years, doon ko kinukuha ang pang-tuition at pambaon sa mga anak ko,” shares Virginia.
Today, she and her family experience all the good things that weren’t within their reach before, like dining out at restaurants and buying more than one pair of new shoes, thanks to Virginia’s hard work as a Personal Collection dealer.

Jonilin Ravelo, 39 years old, street food vendor now a multi-awarded Great Life Executive at Personal Collection

The same is true for Jonilin Ravelo. Before joining Personal Collection, she would go out to sell different kinds of street food. Jonilin shares that even with the salary of her husband, a carpenter, they still did not have enough to buy diapers for their baby and food for the family for a week.
Like Virginia, Jonilin wanted a better way to earn a living. In 2011, she started as a Great Life Builder, the first level in being a Personal Collection dealer. With her skills in selling, Jonilin advanced as a dealer and earned recognition for being Top in Sales and Recruitment. She also holds the highest title in the network, Great Life Executive.

Along with her achievements within the Personal Collection network, Jonilin considers the way she was able to improve her family’s life as the most meaningful reward she has ever earned. With a never-give-up attitude, she has managed to turn her dreams into reality.
“Sa ngayon, nakapagpakabit na ako ng kuryente. Nakapagpagawa na rin ng sementado at maayos na bahay. Nagkabili na rin kami ng dalawang tricycle, isang  pampasada at isang pang-service,” shares Jonilin.

Her husband also left his job as a carpenter, and now supports her business and accompanies her while selling Personal Collection products.
No doubt, Jonilin and her family are reaping the rewards of hard work and perseverance. They now have a better life and enjoy simple luxuries.

For almost two decades, these inspiring stories have been the cornerstone of Personal Collection’s success as a leading direct selling company. Personal Collection has always been committed to transforming lives while providing a range of quality and affordable products.
If you or someone you know would like to start a journey towards the Great Life, sign up to be a Personal Collection dealer and take that first step towards the life of your dreams

Direct sellers of Personal Collection in one of its Thanksgiving Party. Celebrating how their livelihoods as dealers paved the way to giving their own families the life they used to dream of.

5 Things from Our Pinoy Childhood That We’ll Always Love

August 28, 2022

Most of us turn to our childhood for the nostalgia of simpler, more carefree times. A simple mention of a funny or meaningful event from our childhood is enough to get us reminiscing with family and friends. It instantly takes us back to a totally different way of life, making us miss the old times.

This is why we treasure items from the past. Memories and sentimental value make it difficult for us to part with them. Whether it’s things we used to enjoy as kids, pamana keepsakes from our parents, or little things we occasionally used to get as treats, these items from our childhood will always hold a special place in our hearts.

CDs and cassette tapes
Today, we listen to our favorite artists with just a few taps on our smartphones. But back in the day, we still had to go to our favorite music store to grab a cassette tape or CD of their latest and greatest hits. Then, we would pop them into either a Walkman or CD player to listen to the tracks. For music lovers and collectors with a taste for the classics, keeping most, if not all, these music mementos is a must!

Piko, tumbang preso, and other street games
Before the days of smartphones and online games, us Pinoy kids had the streets as our playground. Playtime meant spending an entire afternoon with our friends outdoors. Who doesn’t remember classic street games like piko, tagu-taguan, luksong baka, and tumbang preso, or the thrill of running away from the taya in a round of habulan? We all looked forward to those fun times spent outdoors, and to this day, many of us still know how to play these games by heart!

Jolen, jackstones, and other classic Pinoy toys
Aside from the street games mentioned above, many of us also loved collecting, trading, and playing with simple toys like yo-yos, paper dolls, jolen, jackstones, and teks. Some of us would even painstakingly make our own tirador and saranggola, with plenty of help from our parents. One thing is for sure – we’re all guilty of spending a big portion of our baon to expand our collection of these classic toys!

Film cameras
Many of us were also guilty of playing with family cameras as kids. It was always fun pretending to be photographers, taking snapshots of things we found interesting. However, with only 24 or 36 shots in a roll of film, we had to make every shot count! Fortunately, with film photography now getting popular again, we can still keep shooting with these vintage cameras and relive our days as budding photographers!

Spend a paw-fect day with your fur baby at the Tiendesitas Pet Village

August 17, 2022

Get your pet’s vaccinations updated and make sure they’re at the top of their health at Animal Care Specialists.

Pets and their owners have a secret language only they understand. A simple wag of the tail or even a particular bark or meow is enough to convey a message.

Want to teach your pets a new trick? Teach them the word “Tiendesitas” to let them know that they’re in for a treat! Since it opened in 2005, Tiendesitas Pet Village has earned its well-deserved reputation for being a pet paradise with its clusters of stores that cater to pet needs. From pampering, food treats, grooming and meeting their fur friends to play with, a visit to Tiendesitas is guaranteed to be a great day! Try out this itinerary for a fun-filled day with your pet:

Shop for all your fur baby’s needs—including food, furniture, treats and grooming needs—at Pet Co in Tiendesitas Pet Village.

First, a health check for your fur baby. Before shopping and playtime, make sure your pet’s vaccinations are up to date and that they are free of parvovirus, distemper, and fleas and ticks! Yes, we know that pets hate being poked at but the good vets at Animal Care Specialists have mastered the art of calming pets down before a routine checkup or injection. Like with humans, prevention is better than cure with pets.

Take your pet shopping. After being such a good doggo at the vet’s, reward them at Pet Co, which offers pet furniture (what’s another cute dog bed that your dog won’t use because they want to be on yours?); wet and dry food; starter kits for new puppy and kitten parents; pet accessories such as collars and leads, diapers and clothing; health supplies like medicines, vitamins, dental care products, flea and tick drops; and grooming products such as toothpaste, shampoo, brushes and more.

Socialize with other pooches! Now that your pet is looking their best after a session at the groomers, it’s time to meet up and play with their friends. Tiendesitas Pet Village also has an open space for your fur friends such as the Paw Park, and hosts regular play dates like Pet Meetup events with dog whisperer and trainer Lestre Zapanta. Pet playdates are a great way for shy pets (especially rescue ones that have had traumatic experiences) to come out of their shell and learn to be around other pets and humans. It’s a fun time for dogs to be dogs—and humans may socialize with each other too. Keep up to date with these amazing play dates by visiting https://www.ortigasmalls.com/events/tiendesitas/.

Let the professional groomers at DivineLife make your pet look like they just stepped out of a (pet) magazine.

Have your pet groomed by professionals. After roughhousing with other dogs, your baby is probably covered with slobber and can use a nice warm bath. "Silidonyo" strikes again???

August 17, 2022

Hot item! There are rumors propagating that within this present administration that there's a  government solon who's using his power and according to sources he has two men... the "Kubrador" ( Collector) and the "Depositor."
