GMA's "Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa," TV adaptation to savor your Afternoon Prime

"Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa," was a hit movie way back 1987 which starred Maricel Soriano, Lorna Tolentino and Gabby Concepcion. The film was created by award-winning writer Gilda Olvidado and was directed by the late Ishmael Bernal under Regal Films.

At present time, GMA had it for TV adaptation with its pilot episode slated last January 30, 2017.  It stars Julie Anne San Jose, LJ Reyes and Benjamin Alves with Jean Garcia as the matriarch. One of the directors of the latest tv drama series, Ms. Laurice Guillen has said that, they had made some changes and revisions in this tv offering, they've added more characters and aside from that, instead of having a patriarch which was played by veteran actor Eddie Garcia in the film before, they had Ms. Jean Garcia.

Fate has really brought them together, for whatever reason, we will all find out as we follow the characters' journey everyday in GMA's Afternoon Prime at 4:15. Julie Anne San Jose plays Santina, an orphaned girl who was forced to work hard after her aunt’s death. Later on, she will work in one of the restaurants of Diony played by Ms. Jean Garcia. Due to her kindness, Diony will send her to school and treat her as her own daughter.

Julie Anne San Jose as Santina

Benjamin Alves as Ephraim

LJ Reyes as Angeli

LJ, on the other hand, is Angeli. She is homeless and is longing for a mother’s love. Diony will adopt Angeli and she will eventually help her in running the business.

As Santina and Angeli’s worlds collide through Diony, the two will also vie for Ephraim’s love (Benjamin Alves). Ephraim is Diony’s son who blamed her for the death of his sister. At first, Angeli will see Ephraim as a competition but after an incident, she will fall secretly and obsessively in love with him. Ara Mina as Mariz, is Angeli's neglectful mother. Angeli is a product of rape that's why Mariz hates her daughter and left her with Diony.

Meanwhile, Santina and Ephraim are childhood best friends. Their friendship will eventually blossom into a romantic relationship. Known for getting everything she wants, Angeli will stop at nothin from getting not only Diony’s attention but also Ephraim’s love. But Santina is also willing to fight for herself and for the people she loves. In the end, who will get the love that she’s been hoping for? Santina or Angeli? And how are they supposed to fight for it when they’re just both pinulot lang sa lupa?

This masterpiece by Ms. Gilda Olvidado exhibits and features a lot of human interests which we can all ponder and realize as the series goes. Being grateful, is one of the prime factors here, when Diony took care of Santina and adopted Angeli, her pure heart has prompted her to do so, plus the trust is there. And on the other hand, Santina and Angeli should be very grateful to their matriarch whom they also consider their second mother. Each and everyone of us should never take for granted how to be grateful and must learn to look back at the beautiful and positive things one has brought to us.

Next thing is love. Love and obsession are two different feelings. If you are way too much preoccupied with an often unreasonable idea or feelings to someone, I guess, it's not love at all. In the case of Angeli, she's fallen for Ephraim and that she considers Santina a tight competitor at that rate. Angeli also feels envious of Santina. These state of mind and emotions, has pushed her to become obsessed and vindictive, another human factor of the subconscious mind.

What do you think would Diony feel if she finds out that her two adopted daughters Santina and Angeli were competing for the love of her very own son, Ephraim? Would she rather choose for her son or will she let Ephraim decide on his own? Where will this love and drama story lead us to?

By the way, this project is the very first team up of Kapuso stars Julie Anne San Jose and Benjamin Alves. So do check this latest from Kapuso Network for this will savor your Afternoon Prime.
