What I Like and What I Can Share This Christmas

What’s your favorite Christmas song? Mine is “The Christmas Story.” Every time I hear lyrics of the song, reminds me of the Christmas spirit and I can’t help but to reminisce my childhood memories of the most awaited season of the year.

♫ “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, yuletide carols, being sung by a choir and folks dress up like Eskimos...”♫

And if I may ask you...what do you like for Christmas? Or is there anything that you really wanted to do this yuletide season, like sharing perhaps? If I’m to answer that, mine goes like this:

My first Christmas wish or what I like is something that is not meant for myself, it's something (product/ material) that needs to be taken or applied to acquire a positive effect. I'm talking about my 15 year old son, For several years now, we've been experimenting numerous anti-acne sets/ products for his face. He'd also undergone series of dermatologic processes. I've bought a lot of products already, be it OTC, on line, local, imported, name it. My son had also tried some traditional or natural ways hoping that it would create a good impression on his face.
My only wish for him as of now, is that may we find the right medication/ product for his acne prone skin. I am hoping that, whoever reading this blog, and has something to share or suggest, please feel-free to comment. I would greatly appreciate it!

My second wish would be

A Brand New Printer!!! Any brand will do :D

My 2 year-old printer/ scanner is dysfunctional, scanner is fine but it's having trouble with printing, it keeps on indicating that a paper was jammed but there isn't any. So, instead of having it repaired, I'd prefer to have a new one since the repair might probably cost me as much as like purchasing a brand new machine, according to some of my friends. Practicality wise, they're right and I believe them, actually :))

What I like for my Mom would be

A Gas Range Oven!

My mom's heart's desire speaks out and she's been dreading to bake again; given the right opportunity plus luck and of course with God's grace, I'd gladly give that to her. I love her so much and we wanted her to pursue her most loved hobby, which is baking. And I bet you, she bakes real good cakes, cookies and pastries! :P

What I Can Share

We often see such images like this in social networking sites, right? And as simple as clicking the Like & Share buttons, that's it! But life is not that easy nor it shouldn't be as complicated as it seems. We receive a lot of blessings from God. And as true Christians, we ought to give it back to others.

As one of the members of the Concerned Parents International Foundation (CPIF), we are engaging ourselves into various outreach programs such as-  for the less fortunate children, educational  assistance, feeding programs, hope and joy for the elderlies, gift- giving, etc.

The smile on their faces, the joy and pleasure that sharing can bring, the hope that we had instilled, the bonding... and the cherished moments... it's incomparable!

I am willing to give whatever I am capable to share, and I'll gladly do it over and over again.

Merry Christmas Everyone and
a Glorious New Year!!!

FAMILY CONGRESS 2012: Building the Filipino Family (BFF)

“The family should be a closely knit group. The home should be a self-contained shelter of security; a kind of school where life’s basic lessons are taught; and a kind of church where God is honored; a place where wholesome recreation and simple pleasures are enjoyed.” - Billy Graham

It was my third time of meeting one of the top counselors in town, Maribel Dionisio. I've first met her during Tintin Bersola-Babao's ParenTin.tv 1st year Anniversary barely two years ago. She was one of the featured speakers then.

That's me (left end) with Maribel and my blogger-friend Jenny during ParenTin.tv's 1st year Anniversary celebration

The second time was in another ParenTin.tv event entitled, "I Love My Family" and that was just last February of last year, I hope my memory doesn't fail me. :P She was still one Ms. Tintin's featured and fave speakers.

And now, I'm so happy to share with you that the third time we've met each other was a way different and more personal than the two previous ones. My good friend and co-blogger/columnist Ruth Floresca of www.mommywrites.blogspot.com (Thanks heaps!) and Manila Bulletin invited me to a very nurturing "Meet the Family" Bloggers meet event held at Fully Booked located in Bonifacio High Street, BGC, Taguig City.

Our third and latest meet-up hihihi

A very intimate, reality-based and informative discussion about family as well as parenting was headed by no other than, the parenting and relationship expert, Maribel S. Dionisio together with Fides Reyes, F.I.D. Events services PR and events organizer and Rowie Matti, CEO of the Galileo Enrichment Learning Program.

One of the most interesting topics that Maribel would be tapping on August 25 is the ABCs of Parenting. Trust me, you'll all learn from this ;))

(L-R): Maribel Dionisio, Fides Reyes and Rowie Matti

Months ago, Maribel had the idea of organizing a family congress. She invited Fides Reyes to join her advocacy after the two met in a mommy learning event the Fides organized. Soon after, Maribel also invited Rowie, who had been, in turn, inviting Maribel to give talks for Galileo events.

The three friends, who are all very passionate on learning how to be the best parents they can be, also have a sincere vision to help educate other families about relationships and love.
This coming August 25, 2012, join them as they present a variety of topics that parents, teens, and singles would find very useful. The Family Congress team invites:
  1. PARENTS who want to: improve on their methods or styles of bringing up their children; know the value of modern technology and how they can manage it, learn more about bullies – managing and preventing this
  2. COUPLES who wish to nurture, maintain, or improve their relationship.
  3. TEENS  and  YOUNG ADULTS who are confused with their emotions and  want to learn more about  relationships - Crushes, Sex , Dating and Love
“Our vision is to equip every individual with the knowledge and skills they need for their particular relationship stage,” express the organizers. Thus, congress attendees can choose one session in the morning and another session in the afternoon from among 10 varied and very interesting topics and program:

Aside from attending two sessions, guests will also get to hear inspirational messages from Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle and motivational speaker Francis Kong.

The Family Congress’ mission is to provide a venue for learning by gathering the best experts in the field of psychology, parenting, and relationship to share their knowledge to family members, educators, and organizations in the most effective and simplest way. Maintaining connections with loved ones need work. And despite the advances in technology in this digital and fast-paced era, the proliferation of electronic gadgets and other high-tech distractions, among other factors, has actually made relationships more challenging to preserve.

The Family Congress 2012 will be held on August 25, 2012 from 8AM to 5PM at the Valle Verde Country Club, Pasig City. It is presented by The Love Institute in partnership with Galileo Enrichment Learning Program and F.I.D. Event Services.

Early bird rates are: P1300 if you register before April 30; P1400 if you register before June 30. Regular rate is P1500 per attendee. Promo rate: 6+1 (pay for 6, get 1 free based on regular rate). Registration fee is inclusive of seminar fee, meals, and lots of freebies.

The bloggers with the "Family Congress 2012" organizers

What I've learned from our event was, there's always hope in everything, and it's never too late especially when it comes to parenting. And in addition to that, "When we talk about the family, no issue is small, nor silly, nor irrelevant."

Please go out of your way, be registered and be part of the "Family Congress 2012" on August 25. So...see you there! :)))
