A Story of Love and Responsibility.... “The Mistress”

Love begins with Attraction...
Love is fueled by Desire...
Love takes on Risks...
Love comes with Pain...
Great Love comes with Hope.

These are the running taglines from the most awaited romantic- melodrama movie of the year....
“The Mistress.”

Wife or mistress, husband or lover, boyfriend or girlfriend, friends or enemies, I guess everyone’s been expecting and so excited in watching this Star Cinema’s newest offering. Helmed by no other than Ms. Olivia “Inang” Lamasan, and penned by one of the celebrated screenwriters of our time, Ms. Vanessa Valdez, this film marks as Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd’s comeback project as a love team on screen since their last partnership two years ago, via the movie “Miss you like Crazy.”

“The Mistress” not only celebrates the 10th year anniversary of “John Lloyd-Bea” tandem, but according to direk Olive, it also marks her 10th film directorial job, as well as Vanessa’s 10th screenplay, so they’re celebrating a Triple 10, would you believe? :)) Congratulations to all of you! Completing the powerful cast, the lead stars were also joined by Ms. Anita Linda, Carmi Martin, K Brosas, Tony Mabesa, Gabe Mercado, Minnie Aguilar, Nor Domingo and child star Clarence Delgado.

John Lloyd and Bea during "The Mistress" Blogcon

Expect more striking, peculiar and phenomenal exchange of lines between the characters, Regina, The Wife played by Ms. Hilda Koronel; Rico, The Benefactor played by Ronaldo Valdez;  JD, The Lover played by John Lloyd and Sari, The Mistress played by Bea. Driven by their maturity, and by the demand of the story, this film is Bea and John Lloyd’s most daring role to date!

Watching the movie’s teaser, Bea was quoted as saying, “Walang babaing pinangarap maging kabit!”
So true, so real... but has it ever crossed your mind, why do these women still engage into a relationship where in fact they know very well that they don’t own and doesn’t have any right to the man they’ve fallen in love with? The only thing that these women can occupy is a little “space” in their man’s heart. Nevertheless, being in love doesn’t proved just and right if it’s considered illegal, stolen and unsolicited.
But no offense meant to anyone huh, this film doesn’t judge anyone. And you really can’t put all the blame on the mistress alone. It really takes two to tango. During the blog conference, Bea even shared what her mother used to tell her, “You cannot seduce a happy husband.” I couldn’t agree more with that! In this present and modern world, oftentimes, the so-called “straight” men are predominantly empowered by liberated and persistent women, agree?

“The Mistress” entails us a love story in different angles. This is not created to justify Sari’s means or any of her personal reasons. This film is made for us to realize and spend some thinking that, being in love doesn’t only include attraction, desire, risks and pain... we must not exclude that, apart from those feelings, there’s always a corresponding responsibility...and that all of us must face whatever consequences there might happen. But the good thing is... at the end of the day, we should never fail to anticipate that there’s always hope.

Never miss this one-of-a-kind love story! Showing in 200 theaters nationwide!

Let's watch and listen to what Bea has to say on
"Why married men still seek for other women?"

The Amazing Spider-Man Experience

Filipinos were so lucky being one of the first ones to watch this spectacular movie "The Amazing Spider-Man," while other countries including the United States, have been counting the days and nights 'til its first screening on July 03, 2012.

Taking advantage of this rare chance, I decided to catch the advanced screening at SM IMAX 3D theater in Mall of Asia (MOA). You can check-out movie schedules here.

We got the June 29, 12:01 AM slot, yay!

While waiting at the lounge, the whole venue was so filled with "Spidey" fanatics from different generations, genders and class. But there's one thing that we all do have in common... we're all excited about the whole muvee and how would Andrew Garfield do justice to his role as Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man.

Part of the waiting crowd gathered at the SM IMAX lounge

People get in line to have a lucky pick from the bowl and claim their free posters.
Well I got a pen hehe :)

Aside from the SM IMAX Baller ID, we were also given Krispy Kreme doughnuts and paper hats, there's my pen and the exclusive poster.

We were also given a free coffee, sakto, inaantok na talaga ko that time! :))

Since the seats were all occupied, this group caught my attention... picnic anyone? :P
I find it cool though, specially if you do it with your friends.

Of course, it would be a little-less happy without your peers, hehe

Haiz, I really need this kick! hihihi

"La lang," this too caught me, nice noh?

Almost there... this is the entrance to the left side of the theater

At 11:45 PM, here's the view (IMAX and SMDC parking lot) from where we lined up for entrance

Finally, we got in and got my 3D glasses on hehe (excited?! excited?!)

To tell you honestly, I really don't have any plans of documenting and blogging about this whole "thing." I just got really inspired by those people who really came out of their way staying late, even had their kids tagged along, even the grandmas and grandpas were there. It was like a gathering of sorts, a "bonding" which the Filipinos are popularly known for. Amazing, right?!

Now we turn our wheels to the movie... frankly speaking, I am not an avid reader of Spider-Man nor any of Marvel comics' stories. Being a movie enthusiast, I never fail to catch them on screen. But since I've been talking to few Marvel comics readers, I found out that one of Spider-Man's edited story from Toby Maguire's three flicks (2002, 2004 and 2007) was the "spider web" coming out of his wrists.

Spider-Man Web Shooter

With the latest Spider-Man movie, it was presented that Peter Parker himself made his very own web shooter aside from customizing his "spandex" costume. And that alone, really made an impact to the story. And now, the makers of this film can fully claim that, the untold chapter of Spider-Man was finally unveiled.

Andrew Garfiled as the new Spider-Man

I would like to commend the whole production for making this film so AMAZINGLY Spectacular! And this is the other reason why I opted to blog about this. I didn't expect that Andrew Garfield will be this great and he did exceed our expectations and gave justice to his character. Clap, clap, clap! Bravo! Andrew's been working hard for this character for six months, he had undergone physical preparations, doing strength, agility and core training, even nutritional monitoring. Do you think that by just plain camera, digital or graphic tricks, these would all work? Nah ah, as his character requires and as part of the movie's preparation per se, Andrew even had to do some trampoline works, power core moves, perfecting basketball skills, as well as martial arts, gymnastic and parkour works for three months. And it all paid-off! Whew! It was indeed a tiring, critical and yet a very humbling task being a superhero like Spider-Man huh! :))

Spider-Man came out of the manhole

It was refreshing to see on screen such brilliant and award-winning Hollywood actors like Martin Sheen, playing the role of Uncle Ben and Ms. Sally Field as Aunt May.

Martin Sheen (Uncle Ben) and Sally Field (Aunt May)

On the other hand, Emma Stone who appeared in several movies like Friends With Benefits and Crazy, Stupid, Love opposite Ryan Gosling plays Gwen Stacy as Peter Parker's love interest in the movie.

Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) and Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker)

Some of the scenes of Spider-Man's life story were presented in different versions but the significant thing is, the whole movie gave justice to itself. You know, I'd really wanted to pour some more points here but the rest is all for you to find out! So, if ever you have the chance and means, please I do encourage you to watch it in 3D, and you'll be more than AMAZED.
I tell you, you'll love it as much as I did.
I don't want to be a spoiler but please do stay in your seats 'til the film credits start to run on the screen. See you at the next "The Amazing Spider-Man" folks, since they're now preparing for the shooting of its sequel. :))

I LOVE GLOBE ❤!!!

Why do I love Globe? Or I guess it would be more aptly stated as "What are the reasons why I love Globe?"

Global Power

When you want to reach out to everyone, most especially your loved ones and the people that you care to the farthest place possible, you can really depend on the Global Power of Globe. Be it personal or business matters, Globe is very much reliable that it reaches out, connects and stands out in so many ways.

Limitless Connection

Ever since I had my very first mobile phone, I've known no other telecommunications network that gives Limitless Connection and for me, Globe is the most likable network and less-likely to lead us astray. Why? Because Globe always sees to it that we're in the right path, with powerful connection and provides the full service possible. Globe utilizes LTE, the most advanced 4G technology capable of blazing data speeds therefore with Globe, nobody and no one will go haywire, trust me. :))

Official Network

I don't wanna sound boastful or rude but no offense meant to other networks huh,  I just believe and I'm pretty much sure that majority of the Filipino users would agree with me to the very obvious fact that Globe is the Official Network in the Philippines! It has more than 25 million subscribers with 650,000 wireline and broadband users. And I'm so glad and proud to say that I'm one of them! :))

Boundless Modernization

I am very much confident about my network and I know that they are pursuing great efforts in building and creating Boundless Modernization of their systems to be able to render us, their subscribers and broadband users, the optimum service range and most advanced network. To cope up with our modern digital and virtual settings, endless technological improvements, widening and boosting are prioritized in their platforms.

Experience

Be it extreme, exclusive and extraordinaire, Globe prepaid subscribers like me and my family enjoy much of Globe's services and promos. Have you watched Sarah Geronimo, Gerald Anderson and Vice Ganda's newest Globe TVC? It's "Go Play with Globe prepaid *143#," it encourages us to punch those figures on our mobile phones to call request and then you'll discover Globe's amazing offerings wherein you can choose (Item no.1) and make your own promo for as low as P5.

Being an avid texter and an "on the go" person, I'm lovin' and enjoyin' much the ALLNET combo (Item no. 3). Once you're subscribed (Item no. 1) to this, you'll experience UnliTxt (Unlimited text) to ALL netwroks (Oh my!); 10 minutes calls to ALL networks (this is really something!) and 50 minutes calls to Globe/ TM for only P25 in one day, OMG!

Here's a TIP for you guys...if you opted to subscribe for 1 whole week which is equivalent to 7 days, it would only cost you P150 instead of P175, isn't that such a great deal?! And if you're thinking about your combo status, worry no more 'cause you'll get your answers as soon as you punch those specific numbers, you'll see... :)) So, what are you waiting for? Go lang ng Go! Let's go with Globe!!!

"Go Play with globe Prepaid *143#" TVC

Just wanna share you two of the exclusive experiences I had with Globe, I used to appear in several Globe's TVCs as a talent. This video was released last 2009 with the title "Sa Globe Abot Mo Ang Mundo." If you'll notice, in the video thumbnail, I was the one wearing the blue top in the picture frame ...

and here's the screen capture of one of the tvc's scenes...
That's me from your right holding an orange fan, hahaha so sorry for the blurry capture :)

Here's the screen capture...

Again, I was at the background hahaha, notice the girl back there eating while talking? hahaha that's sooo me. ;P

And this time, I am hoping and been wanting to experience participating in one of Globe's special events.
See? There's a bunch of valuable experiences we could get from Globe, that's why, I wanna shout out and let the world know...

Give Love on Mother’s Day!

Being a mother is one of the most challenging yet the most rewarding jobs in the world. As each of these precious women is unique,  each one has her own way of showing her  unconditional and tireless love to her  kids. So we honor our moms during this particular time of the year by showing our love for them through the most special way that we could think of.

On Mother’s Day, we put them under the spotlight and make our moms feel the prettiest and most special. We give them sweet solutions like a trip to her favourite hangout spot, a day off from her usual household chores, a box of chocolates, a salon makeover or a bouquet of her favorite flowers. But have you ever thought about giving such a special woman in your life something that can last for more than a day or a week?

Instead of going to the store and buying her a predictable gift,, why not sit down and take time to write an old-fashioned  note to express your gratitude for everything she has done for you? Rather than a store-bought present, let your heartfelt love notes fill her heart as you take time to thank the woman who has gotten you out of bed and made you breakfast every morning, picked you up and patched your wounds, kept a vigil by your bedside whenever you were sick and stood by you all these years.

In case you’re stuck with writer’s block, here are some ideas to get you started:

1.    Remind her she is loved. Just as she has given you unconditional and tireless love, remind her that you feel the same way for her. Sometimes, telling someone we love them can feel awkward or too mushy, but words can flow much easier on paper and are just as meaningful.
2.    Write thank you notes for all she’s done. Think back on every loving task mom has done for you – whether big or small. The more you can think of and the further back you go is a testament to her that you haven’t forgotten any of her good deeds and that you appreciate every one of them.
3.    Remember that when you say “sorry”, you start healing. The great thing about moms is that they forgive easily and perfectly even when there are misunderstandings or when you have not appreciated her as much. Even so, reading a heartfelt apology would go a long way to make both of you feel better.
4.    Collect a Jar of Heartfelt Notes. Finally, when you’re done, collect all your love notes and place them in a jar by her bedside, so she can wake up to the best surprise.

Don’t be afraid to get creative in starting with this project. Use Post-it® Cube Notes that come in different sizes and varied colors to fill up your jar. You can also opt to use Post-it® Notes in assorted neon or pastel colors to write down each loving note. Decorate the jar as well with ribbons, acrylic paint or glitter glue.

Even after Mother’s Day, you can continuously leave the jar and a pad of Post-it® Notes on the kitchen or anywhere accessible to the entire family and start collecting 365 days worth of love notes from everyone.

Post-it® is a trademark of 3M.

FAMILY CONGRESS 2012: Building the Filipino Family (BFF)

“The family should be a closely knit group. The home should be a self-contained shelter of security; a kind of school where life’s basic lessons are taught; and a kind of church where God is honored; a place where wholesome recreation and simple pleasures are enjoyed.” - Billy Graham

It was my third time of meeting one of the top counselors in town, Maribel Dionisio. I've first met her during Tintin Bersola-Babao's ParenTin.tv 1st year Anniversary barely two years ago. She was one of the featured speakers then.

That's me (left end) with Maribel and my blogger-friend Jenny during ParenTin.tv's 1st year Anniversary celebration

The second time was in another ParenTin.tv event entitled, "I Love My Family" and that was just last February of last year, I hope my memory doesn't fail me. :P She was still one Ms. Tintin's featured and fave speakers.

Me and Maribel in "I Love My Family" event last year

And now, I'm so happy to share with you that the third time we've met each other was a way different and more personal than the two previous ones. My good friend and co-blogger/columnist Ruth Floresca of www.mommywrites.blogspot.com (Thanks heaps!) and Manila Bulletin invited me to a very nurturing "Meet the Family" Bloggers meet event held at Fully Booked located in Bonifacio High Street, BGC, Taguig City.

Our third and latest meet-up hihihi

A very intimate, reality-based and informative discussion about family as well as parenting was headed by no other than, the parenting and relationship expert, Maribel S. Dionisio together with Fides Reyes, F.I.D. Events services PR and events organizer and Rowie Matti, CEO of the Galileo Enrichment Learning Program.

Maribel during the "Meet the Family" event

One of the most interesting topics that Maribel would be tapping on August 25 is the ABCs of Parenting. Trust me, you'll all learn from this ;))

(L-R): Maribel Dionisio, Fides Reyes and Rowie Matti

Months ago, Maribel had the idea of organizing a family congress. She invited Fides Reyes to join her advocacy after the two met in a mommy learning event the Fides organized. Soon after, Maribel also invited Rowie, who had been, in turn, inviting Maribel to give talks for Galileo events.

The three friends, who are all very passionate on learning how to be the best parents they can be, also have a sincere vision to help educate other families about relationships and love.
This coming August 25, 2012, join them as they present a variety of topics that parents, teens, and singles would find very useful. The Family Congress team invites:
  1. PARENTS who want to: improve on their methods or styles of bringing up their children; know the value of modern technology and how they can manage it, learn more about bullies – managing and preventing this
  2. COUPLES who wish to nurture, maintain, or improve their relationship.
  3. TEENS  and  YOUNG ADULTS who are confused with their emotions and  want to learn more about  relationships - Crushes, Sex , Dating and Love
“Our vision is to equip every individual with the knowledge and skills they need for their particular relationship stage,” express the organizers. Thus, congress attendees can choose one session in the morning and another session in the afternoon from among 10 varied and very interesting topics and program:

Aside from attending two sessions, guests will also get to hear inspirational messages from Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle and motivational speaker Francis Kong.

The Family Congress’ mission is to provide a venue for learning by gathering the best experts in the field of psychology, parenting, and relationship to share their knowledge to family members, educators, and organizations in the most effective and simplest way. Maintaining connections with loved ones need work. And despite the advances in technology in this digital and fast-paced era, the proliferation of electronic gadgets and other high-tech distractions, among other factors, has actually made relationships more challenging to preserve.

The Family Congress 2012 will be held on August 25, 2012 from 8AM to 5PM at the Valle Verde Country Club, Pasig City. It is presented by The Love Institute in partnership with Galileo Enrichment Learning Program and F.I.D. Event Services.

Early bird rates are: P1300 if you register before April 30; P1400 if you register before June 30. Regular rate is P1500 per attendee. Promo rate: 6+1 (pay for 6, get 1 free based on regular rate). Registration fee is inclusive of seminar fee, meals, and lots of freebies.

The bloggers with the "Family Congress 2012" organizers

What I've learned from our event was, there's always hope in everything, and it's never too late especially when it comes to parenting. And in addition to that, "When we talk about the family, no issue is small, nor silly, nor irrelevant."

Please go out of your way, be registered and be part of the "Family Congress 2012" on August 25. So...see you there! :)))
