Home Foodie: Morning show for the certified foodies

Home Foodie: GMA's newest daily cooking show

Yup! You've read it right! There;s a new morning show that caters to all certified foodies! Let's admit it peeps, what could be the best thing that would attract and make us feel engrossed? It is FOOD, right? There are a lot of good effects that come when when it is being prepared, when it is being cooked, when it is set on the table and of course when it is being excitedly eaten and shared with your family and friends.

This is the yummy-goodness food prepared by the San Miguel Pure Foods culinary experts during "Home Foodie" blogcon. Hmmm... so tempting, right?!

It all boils down to one statement that, "Good food means great company."  Yes, that's what "Home Foodie" is all about. For all the homemakers, food addicts, cooks, food-lovers, housewives and even husbands, house-helpers and food fanatics, this show is dedicated just for you.

Drew Arellano, would be hosting the show and I'm definite that he's so fit for this since he has wide mass appeal, non-alienating and is a true blue foodie. He can also inspire and encourage men to enjoy food by spending time in his kitchen.

Cooking experts from San Miguel Pure Foods Culinary Center, led by chefs Llena Tan-Arcenas, Rene Ruz and RJ Garcia will delight us with their food preps and will share us new twists, tips and techniques. San Miguel Pure Foods believes that aside from dining out, foodies should come home and harness their passion for food by cooking in their own kitchens and creating their own food experience.

The "Home Foodie" blogcon was a fun, fun, informative and food-overload event. As soon as we arrived at the venue, we were so amazed by the set-up. Take a look at this one.

These healthy herbs like rosemary and Sweet Basil that's so useful in cooking were on top of every table in the venue. Well, I got the sweet basil since I love to cook Pesto Pasta. ;))

Aside from those herbs, which I truly appreciate, food, food and more food were set at the counters. The culinary experts used San Miguel Pure Foods products.

Shepherd's Pie

Chicken Adobo Rice with Kangkong, Bagoong and Mango toppings. A real treat!

Macaroni Salad

Tempting Breaded Fried Chicken

Don't be deceived by this one, at first it looked like just an ordinary roll of bread but it has a buttery taste that perfectly blended with the bread itself, like it much!

Kampto at Sigarilyas

This is a very surprising meal for me. I am not fond of the Sigarilyas veggie, actually. But after savoring on this dish, I've come to like it already :)) The beef kampto is so tasty and tender and mind you, they've used Magnolia All Purpose Cream for this instead of the coconut milk or cream. This one, I'm gonna try and cook for my family.

Dayap Cheesecake for dessert

Fruits

Of course, since this is a cooking show, we wouldn't get away without witnessing a live cooking demo. Chef RJ Garcia demonstrated on how to cook the Chicken Adobo Rice, one of Filipino's comfort foods.

The end product! Chicken Adobo Rice topped with Kangkong, Bagoong and Mango slices! Love it!

Truly, Home Foodie dishes are "masarap, masustansya at kayang-kaya."

i Witness: HAPDI NG LAPNOS 15TH Anniversary Special

Dokumentaryo ni Jay Taruc
December 6, 2014

A couple of years ago, I-Witness showed the world the heartwrenching documentary about patients admitted to the burn unit of Davao City Medical Center, the only hospital catering to burn victims in all of Mindanao.

As part of I-Witness’ 15th anniversary, Jay Taruc and his team go back to the place where pain and tears are synonymous with healing.

Quite a lot has happened in two years. The burn unit has been renamed “Rizal D. Aportadera, Jr. Burn Center” to honor the name of the doctor whose efforts and sacrifice were instrumental in saving the lives of burn patients.

After the local and international airing of the episode entitled “Lapnos,” according to Dr. Aportadera, many people from around the world sent donations  to help in their own way.

Sadly, it is not enough. The poor victims still cannot cope financially and physically.

Join Jay Taruc as he enters the doors of the burn unit once again to meet the patients who endure pain to survive.   Don't miss "Hapdi ng Lapnos" this Saturday on I-Witness, after Celebrity Bluff.

Thank you for always being here amazing peeps! Hope it wouldn't take much of your time if I'd ask you to

A Special Tribute to Filipino Moms by Max's Restaurant and Body Shop

"If the whole world were put into one scale, and my mother in the other, the whole world would kick the beam." -Henry Bickersteth

We've all grown celebrating Mother's Day every second Sunday of May each and every year and we're all accustomed to that. On May 13, Sunday, it will be such a great day to celebrate Mom's day :)) . What do you think Max's Restaurant and Body Shop had come up for all the moms out there?

Bent on ensuring that diners will have an exciting and unforgettable experience on Mother’s Day, Max’s Restaurant has partnered with global cosmetics and beauty brand Body Shop in coming up with a heartwarming surprise for the most special woman in our lives.

Family members who will be celebrating Mother’s Day at Max’s Restaurant with a minimum spend of PhP 1,300 will be receiving a luxurious bottle of Body Shop’s Shower Gel - soap-free, lather-rich and fruit-infused! It’s the perfect gift to pamper MOM on her special day.

That's me with my friend Jenny, Kokoy and Angie during the event

We were gastronomically pampered by Max's Restaurant

“In the Philippines where mothers are respected for being the “light of the household,” people take the time to dine together as a family on Mother’s Day. One of the most nostalgic places to re-unite and celebrate with family has always been Max’s Restaurant. Mothers and family members, regardless of age, lifestyle and cultural background, find comfort in its homey interiors and the passionate service of the staff,” said Edgar Allan Caper, Marketing Director for Max’s Restaurant.

During the press launch of Max's Restaurant and Body Shop partnership event for MOMS, the  very amiable and famous host of GMA 7's "Unang Hirit," Ms. Lyn Ching-Pascual was so lively and had given all the right info and details regarding the said event. She's actually a mother of two cutey kids, Gaby and Matty, an avid book-reader herself, who's also into blogging check her personal blog here

is officially

open! :))) Yay!

Of course, picture, picture! hihihi :D

We were also asked to post our mom's pics on the board provided with our corresponding answers to the question: "What do you love most about your mom?" Towards the end of the program, the organizers had picked up three "most heartwarming" messages posted on the board. :))  It was really a very enjoyable moment with all my fellow bloggers and media peeps despite the heavy rain that poured over that one special afternoon.

Red roses were offered by Max's Restaurant staff during the event, aww sweet!

Thank you Max's for all the pampering!

Max's Restaurant is like a home next to our home, whether they are in the busy Metro or searching for respite in the provinces, the familiar inscription that reads “the house that fried chicken built” has always spurred a feeling of enthused anticipation for the scrumptious spread of home-cooked dishes and heirloom recipes that have been in the Max’s tradition for more than six decades.

The ohhsssome sumptuous lunch we had :P

Max's "Sarap to the Bones" Fried Chicken with sweet potato side dish, very Pinoy!

"Nakakagutom naman talaga!"

The beckoning smell of piping hot Sinigang, classic Kare-Kare oozing with thick peanut sauce, the crackling sound of Crispy Pata as one’s fork penetrates its perfectly crunchy skin, and the unforgettable experience of Max’s “sarap to the bones” Fried Chicken, the Filipino’s iconic dish - these are just simply difficult to resist. Cap this sumptuous meal with an exciting bottle of Body Shop Shower Gel from Max’s.

Happy Mother's Day to the most wonderful and loving MOM in the universe! No amount of adjectives or any metaphoric phrases could ever describe you. Actually, my love for you couldn't be written or typed in any form, I know that you know how much I dearly love you. Thank you for bringing us to this world and for raising us so well.

BONUS TRIVIA:
  •  Sarap to the bones was put to the history of Max's Restaurant by "Nanay Ruby" which everyone enjoys until now, thanks to her. ;))
  • Max's Restaurant in Scout Tuazon, Q.C. was its very first branch in the world!

Catch Max’s lush treat from May 7-13 at any Max’s branch nationwide. Prepare to create the most touching moment for MOM on Mother’s Day – simply because she deserves it.

So, let's celebrate Mother's Day at Max's Restaurant, kita-kits!!!
