MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Mega Prime Foods, Inc. (MPFI) marked 50 years of nurturing purpose, uplifting lives and trusting God by honoring their employees, partners and friends at a grand gala night. The occasion underscored the journey of Mega Prime Foods, which began as a small fishing company in Bicol in 1975 to becoming the maker of the country’s #1 sardines brand Mega Sardines.

“What we had was a big dream, a vision: to provide quality food to Filipino homes. Eventually, we moved to Zamboanga, where we supplied fish to Manila canneries. Slowly but surely, with faith and hard work, we grew. Hindi naging madali—but with God’s grace and the dedication of many, we endured,” recounted William Tiu Lim, Mega Prime Foods Founder and Chairman. “Mega has come a long way, but our core remains the same. We are still rooted in the values that shaped us: being God-centered, showing malasakit, thinking innovatively, serving our customers well, and acting with integrity. And now, I feel proud seeing the next generation lead—bringing bold ideas while keeping our values alive.”

Chairman William Tiu Lim and Vice-Chairwoman Marylou Tiu Lim share a heartfelt message during the Gala.

Speaking on "The Heart of the Catch: 50 Mega Lessons on Business, Life and Faith”, a memoir on the journey of Mega Prime Foods, Mr. Tiu Lim said that “this book captures the most meaningful lessons we've learned in the last 50 years, drawn from real experiences, real people, and real challenges. I hope this book becomes not just a record of where we've been, but an inspiration for where others can go—with faith, grit, and heart.”

From Challenger to Champion
When Mega Sardines first entered the market, it faced stiff competition from 26 established brands. Today, it’s hard to imagine a canned goods section in the Philippines without Mega Sardines. The brand captured a 26% market share in 2023, ahead of its closest competitors with 18% and 15% shares, respectively.

Michelle Tiu Lim-Chan, President and CEO, delivered the welcoming remarks, setting the tone for an inspiring and memorable evening.

“I walked into this company 26 years ago, when our sardines line was still a bold idea. We were up against giants in a crowded, commoditized market. But we didn’t give up. We pushed forward — with conviction, with purpose, and with unshakable faith," stated Michelle Tiu Lim-Chan, MPFI President and CEO. “Fifteen years later, we became the number one sardines brand in the Philippines. Not because we had the biggest resources but because we had the biggest heart — the heart of our fishermen, our employees, our suppliers, our banking partners, our distributors and our retail network. That’s what built Mega.”

Celebrity endorser of Mega Mackerel Dimples Romana shared an inspiring message of gratitude and congratulations to Mega Prime Foods.

Marian Rivera-Dantes, brand ambassador of Mega Prime Quality, delivered a heartfelt message, celebrating 50 Mega Years.

Over the years, MPFI has expanded its portfolio to include over 200 SKUs. This includes well-loved staples Mega Mackerel, Mega Tuna, Mama Tuna, Mega Squid, Mega Prime Quality fruits and vegetables, Primo Sparkling Juice, and Jimm’s Coffee Mix.

Marvin Tiu Lim, Chief Growth and Development Officer, delivered a message on growth, innovation, and the future of Mega Prime Foods Inc.

“This year, we’re setting our sights higher—with a bold yet attainable goal of capturing an additional five to ten percentage points in canned sardines market share, bringing us to at least 30% by the end of 2025,” said Marvin Tiu Lim, MPFI Chief Growth and Development Officer.

The company is eyeing international growth as well, noting that the Department of Trade and Industry has identified the Middle East and North Africa food market to nearly double from USD 92.48 billion in 2024 to USD 189.87 billion by 2032

Speaking at the gala celebration, Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque underscored the critical role of the trade and manufacturing sectors—industries in which Mega Prime Foods Inc. plays a significant part. “[The Philippines] outdid [its foreign trade and international investment] the year before by 32%. [And] this one is really [very] important to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to help Filipinos stay here in the country and not be away from their families,” she noted, highlighting the broader national impact of continued industry growth. Expressing strong support for Mega Prime Foods Inc., she added, “On behalf of the Department of Trade and Industry, I send my warmest congratulations to Mega Prime Foods Inc. As Mega expands its reach to the Middle East, the United States, and Europe, we assure you that the government's continued support will always be there.”

People and Purpose

Mega Prime Foods currently employs over 5,000 individuals across its operations. <add 900+ fisherman, 3000 in manufacturing>

Sonar Boat Captain Aladino Pandes reflects on his 27 years with Mega as a fulfilling journey: “Not just for me but for everyone—here, we’re more than co-workers, we’re family.”

Fellow Captain Edsel Baldomero shares the same sentiment. “I started as a crewman, what we used to call a Murami. Captain Pandes mentored me until I became a captain myself,” he said, adding that Mega provided him with a stable livelihood and the means to secure his family’s future. “With Mega’s support, I never felt alone. I was able to send my child to college, and our families know they can always count on the company.”

Roan Cardenas, now a Fish Preservation and Distribution Supervisor, takes pride in her growth at Mega. “I started 13 years ago as a factory filler. Today, I make sure the fish delivered to canning are of top quality—thanks to a company that believes in developing its people.”

More than just a food company, Mega Prime Foods has remained steadfast in its commitment to nation-building through impactful, sustained community programs.
“It was never just about effort. Everything we have—our business, our people, our progress—has always been by His grace. We have been blessed, and because of that, we are called to be a blessing. That’s the heart behind the Mega Tiu Lim Foundation: a belief that every Filipino deserves access to nutrition and livelihood, so they can build better lives," highlighted Mark Tiu Lim, MPFI Chief Spiritual and People Officer.

Mark Tiu Lim, Chief Spiritual and People Officer, shared an uplifting message highlighting the values and heart behind the Mega Prime Foods family.

Since 2019, Mega Bigay Sustansya, in partnership with Reach Out Feed PH, DOST-FNRI, DSWD, and DepEd, has served nearly 500,000 nutritious meals to over 1,000 children, resulting in measurable improvements in child health and nutrition.
Through the Mega Malasakit Mission, Mega Prime Foods brings its advocacy to grassroots communities—visiting barangays across the country to deliver nutrition, education, and joy. These on-ground efforts showcase the versatility and nourishment of its products while building lasting connections with families.

“Our commitment to sustainability is embedded in our operations. From adopting renewable energy and reducing operational waste, to launching the Mega Ocean Cleanup, we continue to act as responsible stewards of the environment, honoring our role in protecting God’s creation,” added Malcolm Tiu Lim, MPFI Chief Technical and Innovations Officer.

Malcolm Tiu Lim, Chief Technical and Innovations Officer, delivered a message highlighting the company’s commitment to innovation and forward-thinking solutions.

In addition, art centerpieces showcased at the gala are available for purchase, with proceeds directly supporting the Mega Ocean Clean-Up, an initiative that involves sweeping the sea surface for garbage by attaching nets to the company’s fishing vessels and bringing the collected waste back to land.

Mega Milyonaryo Promo Launched

Mega Milyonaryo, a special anniversary promo from MPFI that gives back to loyal customers, was also launched at the event. With a total prize pool of ₱50 million, the company says it’s their way of thanking the millions of Filipinos who have supported their brands over the years.
Bringing more excitement to the Mega Milyonaryo promo was the Megastar herself, Sharon Cuneta. The well-loved icon is now the celebrity endorser of Mega Milyonaryo and Mega Sardines. She also lent her voice to “Pangako ng Mega,” the featured song in the company’s anniversary video, which was inspired by her iconic hit, Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko. Coco Martin, star of Ang Probinsyano and Batang Quiapo, was also announced the face of Jimm’s Coffee Mix.

Coco Martin surprised guests with a special performance number during the Gala Night, adding excitement to the celebration. He is the newly launched celebrity endorser of Jimm’s Coffee Mix.

The celebration of Mega Prime Foods Inc.’s 5th Anniversary marked a milestone of excellence, innovation, and Filipino pride — highlighted by a special performance from Mega Star Sharon Cuneta. She is also the face of Mega Milyonaryo and Mega Sardines.

Together, Sharon and Coco form a powerhouse duo that brings heart, heritage, and star power to every Filipino table.

Coco Martin supports AP (Ako'y Pilipino) Partylist that supports Livelihood and Transport Sector

February 25, 2022

Coco Martin endorses new Partylist--- AP Partylist

Coco Martin supports new partylist advocating for livelihood and the transport sector Coco Martin, famously known as Cardo Dalisay on-screen, is making rounds all over as he debuts his endorsement not of the partylist with the same name as his show, but of a new party-list – AP Partylist #AkoyPilipino on Friday, February 25.

"Anuman ang hirap na ating pinagdadaanan, may kakampi na tayo…” Martin introduced his new party-list group with first nominee Rep. Ronnie Ong in-action in the background in the partylist’s video now circulating online. He continues, “Ang AP Partylist ang tutulong magbigay ng trabaho at kabuhayan sa mga manggagawang Pilipino.” Rep. Ronnie Ong is Coco Martin’s long-time friend and is nicknamed by PeopleAsia as the “frontliner Congressman.” Ong is known for his various out-of-the-box COVID-19 Bayanihan projects since the first lockdown, such as his #LibrengSakay program for healthworkers, #LibrengGulay program for community kitchens, #LibrengTablets and E-skwela Hub e-learning centers for students and teachers.

Before the pandemic, Ong also supported senior citizens looking for employment through his Tulong Pangkabuhayan program, deploying various able-bodied and willing-to-work seniors at airports, public universities and government agencies. During the pandemic, he also helped out-of-work transport workers such as UV Express or FX drivers by employing them as #LibrengSakay drivers, as well as some laid-off ABS-CBN employees who found alternative work as contact tracers. More than just Coco Martin, the all-star cast of Ang Probinsyano forming the famed “Task Force Agila,” has also expressed their support for AP Partylist on their social media pages, sharing the various advocacies of AP Partylist closest to them.

Coco Martin with AP Partylist nominees Ronnie Ong (1st) , Rey Tambis (2nd) , Chris Tio (3rd) and the "Ang Probinsyanyo" cast

“Mula po noong umpisa nakasama na namin si Cong. Ronnie, at kita namin na nagtrabaho talaga siya, naglingkod talaga siya. Kaya ngayon, ang #164 AP Partylist na kasama siya ang sinusuportahan na namin. Sana po ay suportahan niyo rin,” Coco Martin said.

Aside from the endorsement video, AP Partylist also collaborated with OPM artists Bassilyo, Sisa and Smugglaz with their “Ako’y Pilipino,” anthem that sings of the pride, perseverance, and hardwork of Filipinos. They sing, “Ikaw ay magtiwala, magtiwalang may magagawa. Ito na ang panahon, ang tamang pagkakataon, sa bawat daing mo’y magtutugon. Ako’y Pilipinong lumalaban, tumatapang, lalo kung nasusugatan, anumang pagsubok ang daanan, haharapin nang may kagitingan. Itaas mo ang noo, isigaw mo sa buong mundo, ako’y Pilipino.”

Both videos are available on Youtube and on AP Party-list’s official social media pages. Coco Martin calls on the audience to join him on his new journey with his new partylist, “Dito na tayo sa biyaheng aasenso ang lahat ng Pilipino…

Arjo Atayde plays a vital role in "BuyBust" Movie

Arjo Atayde plays a very vital role as the villain in BuyBust story

Arjo Atayde is probably one of the most sought-after actors today in our country. His versatility is a non-debatable, unarguable and an indisputable fact. Emanating from a family of brilliant actors like that of his mom, actress Sylvia Sanchez and his sister, Ria Atayde, Arjo is also making his own name and reputation as an actor.

Be it in a romcom, drama or action, Arjo will always be Arjo, he always tends to portray roles more than what we expected. He has made his film debut last year (2017) via his good friend and co-actor, Coco Martin's movie, entitled "Ang Panday" where he plays the young evil spirit (Lizardo) who killed Flavio Jr. and the father of Lizardo Domingo.

Today, Arjo will  surely add another feather to his cap as he portrays a very vital role in Viva Films most-talked and most-awaited action movie of the year entitled "BuyBust." It was known to almost everybody that during the presscon of the said film, his role remains a secret 'til it had its international screening last July 15 in New York at the NYAFF (New York Asian Film Festival) where they've gained enormous and positive feedbacks and reviews.

Arjo happily posted last July 15,  in his Instagram account @arjoatayde about how proud and excited he is that finally, the world rather the viewing public can finally see their movie which is another Erik Matti masterpiece.

"BuyBust" lead star Anne Curtis during the Q&A after the NYAFF screening

In connection with their NYAFF screening, please allow me to quote Asian Movie Pulse writer, Panos Kotzathanasis' commentary about our dear Arjo, "Arjo Atayde is a great villain, with his monologue during the end being one of the highlights of the movie."  Well, judging from the photo of Arjo, being circulated now online, we could clearly see that he has managed to change his looks apart from his real persona. Similar to some Hollywood actors who were also most willing to reinvent or recreate themselves for the sake of the project. It has been said that in two years time, Arjo can be the next Johnny Depp or Sean Penn of the Philippines. Which is I know that he is really capable and deserving to be tagged as one.  I guess, this is another plus factor and additional reason for us to watch "BuyBust." All the more, the mystery of Arjo's role as the villain is yet to unfold.

Can you imagine the bearing or the impact of Arjo's role in the movie that even the international critics were smitten by Arjo's superb acting prowess?  I know and I am definitely sure that Arjo has once again proven his real worth in this upcoming film, so that makes everyone feel more eager to watch the whole "BuyBust" movie and let the impact of his acting speak for itself.

On the other hand, Mr. Kiupers of Variety also has to sayBuyBust” sets itself decisively apart from comparable full-tilt Eastern action spectaculars that have made an international impact, such as Thailand’s “Ong Bak: Muay Thai Warrior,” Indonesia’s “The Raid” (2011), and Cambodia’s “Jailbreak” (2016).

Arjo is definitely going places... he's also being offered to come to Hollywood for a master class in acting by no other than, the internationally acclaimed Hollywood acting coach, Miss Ivana Chubbuck herself. I just hope everything will go well with his career since he really deserve to be uo there and recognized.

Graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board and R16 by the MTRCB

Regular showing will be on August 1, 2018  in cinemas nationwide!

*Netflix online streaming will start this November

Please keep posted for my movie review of #BuyBustMovie and citings on Arjo Atayde's acting soon here on mt blog before August 1.

Thank you for keeping up with me my dear amazing readers.
Until our next!!!

Coco-Sarah's Maybe This Time earns Php 60M in four days

"Maybe This Time" cast

The much awaited big screen team-up of Coco Martin, the country's Primetime TV King, and Sarah Geronimo, Box Office Queen and Pop Princess of the Philippines, lived up to expectations as the duo translated their on-screen chemistry in ABS-CBN's Star Cinema's and Viva Films' “Maybe This Time” into box office gold, earning P60 million already four days after it opened.

“Maybe This Time” will open on June 6 in the U.S. in 35 theatres in the states of Washington, California, Nevada, Arizona, Illinois, Ohio, Texas, Alabama, Virginia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Florida and Hawaii.  Also on June 6, it will screen in Canada in 12 theatres in the cities of Montreal, Ottawa, Scarborough, Toronto, Mississauga, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Surrey, Vancouver, Saskatoon and Regina.  Later this June, the movie will be seen internationally in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Greece, Ireland, Norway, France, United Kingdom, Qatar, Bahrain and United Arab Emirates.

The story about a simple city girl (Steph) and a small town boy (Tonio) who fall in love but get separated by ambition and the need to provide for family is a theme that resonates with many.  When they cross paths seven years later through a fateful assignment made by the girl's sophisticated PR boss (Monica) for a new client, some complications arise: the client here is Tonio who is now Monica's boyfriend.  Will this become an opportunity to rekindle an old flame or will it finally be closure for Steph after Tonio left her without saying goodbye?

"It's complicated," laughed ABS-CBN Global Head of Theatricals and TV and film director John-D Lazatin. "These are not cardboard characters and it's not a formulaic story.  The narrative is based on real life experiences and emotions.

When you watch the film, you see the characters' journeys, their struggles, their dilemmas, and their choices that would impact their lives. You will truly feel for them, especially with Coco and Sarah displaying greater maturity and polish in their acting here.  Ruffa as Monica is a standout.  This is a must-see Filipino film this summer."

Maybe This Time is directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng and written by Anton Santamaria and Melai Monge. It also stars Ruffa Guttierez, Ogie Diaz, Dennis Padilla, Marlann Flores, Zeppi Borromeo, Garlic Garcia, Minnie Aguilar, Boboy Garovillo, and Sharmaine Buencamino.

Looking forward to "Bryan XXV Termulo" Birthday Concert

Bryan Termulo during his birthday concert bloggers' party

Bryan Termulo, the "Prince of Teleserye Theme Songs" is out to celebrate his 25th birthday with loved ones, friends, fans and supporters via his birthday concert at the Music Museum to be held on March 09, 2013, Saturday at 8 PM, entitled "Bryan XXV Termulo."

Owing to the colossal turn out of his career, Bryan Termulo and his BWB Records and Music Production, Inc. family had collaborated to render special treat to all of you. We'd be expecting more of Bryan's popular songs like his "Dadalhin" version for the phenomenal ABS-CBN teleserye,  "Walang Hanggan;" "Kailan," originally done by 90's group Smokey Mountain, soundtrack of on-going tv series "Ina Kapatid Anak;" and "Sa Isang Sulyap Mo," for another on-going Kapamilya action/comedy/fantaserye, "Juan Dela Cruz" starring Coco Martin and Erich Gonzales.

As I've said, we'd be expecting more, meaning, we get to see performances by Bryan like he has never done before. It's going to be a big surprise for all of you! Do you wanna see how he strut his body and move his feet on the dance floor? Well, better be there! This birthday concert wouldn't be more fun and exciting without Bryan's guests like Bugoy Drilon, Liezel Garcia, funny girl Melai Cantiveros and X Factor grand winner and my forever bet, KZ Tandingan!

Aside from singing, Bryan is also very thankful for his blooming acting career, and he's now busy taping for the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye entitled "Against all Odds," starring Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, KC Concepcion, Sam Milby, Jericho Rosales and Jessy Mendiola (love her!).

During Bryan's birthday bloggers' party, I asked him about his birthday wish and hopes, the "close-up" smile and flawless singer/ actor replied: "Sa career, sana marami pang teleserye theme songs kasi nag-start po ako na kumakanta ng mga theme songs sa teleserye theme songs sa ABS-CBN, so sana ma-maintain po iyon para marami pa po akong ma-impart bilang singer, of course sa aking network na marami pa po akong ma-contribute sa kanila na maganda, maayos at well-appreciated ng mga tao. So more songs to come, kasama na rin po ang acting. Sa studies naman, medyo mahirap dahil working student, nag-aaral, loaded talaga 'yung isip ko dahil sa birthday concert, hopefully next sem sana walang kong bagsak hehe, para next year talagang 4th year na ko, graduating student na' ko para maging Communication Arts graduate na ko in the future. Sa lovelife naman, huwag po nating pigilan kung may dumating sa 2013, pinag-pe-pray din naman po natin 'yun."

"BORN TO LOVE YOU" SURE HIT SA TAKILYA!

Sobrang nag-eenjoy ang stars ng "Born to Love You."

Coco Martin, Direk Jerome Pobocan and Angeline Quinto

Hihihi

Pogi talaga ni Papa Coco!

The ever dashing Albert Martinez

Walang Hanggan will set theTrend in Philippine Teleserye

“Walang Hanggan” is the most-awaited Primetime Bida drama series inspired by the great novel “Wuthering Heights,” with a powerhouse cast composed of high-caliber actors from three generations that will finally premiere on January 16 (Monday) over ABS-CBN Channel 2.
The powerhouse cast consists of two queens of Philippine cinema Susan Roces and Helen Gamboa;

Susan Roces and Helen Gamboa;

“eternal love team” Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta;

and the first onscreen team-up of Julia Montes and Coco Martin.

As Direk Jerry Lopez Sineneng said during the newest teleserye’s presscon the other night, “Tungkol ito sa tatlong henerasyon ng great love. As weeks and months go by, mabibigyan ang bawa’t  henerasyon ng kani-kanilang pagkakataon para maipaliwanag ang kanilang love story.

Direk Jerry Lopez Sineneng and Direk Trina Dayrit during "Walang Hanggan" Presscon
This trending teleserye features the undying love that revolves around characters from three different generations: the love triangle among Virginia (Susan Roces), Margaret (Helen Gamboa), and John (Eddie Gutierrez); the ill-fated lovers Marco (Richard Gomez) and Emily (Dawn Zulueta); and young sweethearts Daniel (Coco Martin) and Katerina (Julia Montes).

Mr. Eddie Gutierrez (John), Ms. Helen Gamboa (Margaret) and Ms.Susan Roces (Virginia)

Richard Gomez (Marco) and Dawn Zulueta (Emily)

Coco Martin (Daniel) and Julia Montes (Katerina)

Roces expressed excitement over their newest series. She said, “I’m a fan of teleseryes myself, that’s why I’m very happy to be part of it. But what makes “Walang Hanggan” more special is that this is Helen and I’s first-ever onscreen project.”
Meanwhile, Dawn, who is set to revive love team with Gomez, took pride in the narrative that they will be offering to the audience. “The story was so great, that it was hard to turn down the role. Everyone can surely relate with the characters’ journey,” she mentioned.
While Dawn and Richard rekindle an old onscreen romance, Coco and Julia starts anew. Coco shared, “This is a new challenge for me since this is the first time that I’ll be doing a ‘full love story.’ This time, susubukan ko namang magpa-inlove kasi sa mga nakaraang soaps lagi akong kontrabida, lagi akong galit, lagi akong intense, laging umiiyak. Dito palagi akong nakatawa, laging feel-good, sabi ko nga masarap palang gumawa ng love story kasi pag dumadating ka sa set, ang gaan-gaan ng pakiramdam ko, parang hindi ako nagte-taping.”
Completing the powerhouse cast are well-regarded actors Rita Avila, Melissa Ricks, Joem Bascon, and Paulo Avelino; with the special participation of Eddie Gutierrez and Joel Torre. The series is directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng and Trina Dayrit.

The powerhouse cast of "Walang hanggan"

One of my most fave part is being with these shining stars and what do you expect me to do? Of course, "picture-picture" moments galore! First, is Papa Coco Martin of "madlang people."

And there's the "eternal Papa" Papa Richard! Isn't he so sweet? ;) OMG I don't want this special night to end anymore!
Then there's the pretty Julia who's grooming to be the next Bea Lucero.

I really like Melissa who's more gorgeous in person (promise!) it was my third time of seeing her, first in Albert Martinez's birthday bash, the second was in Azkals vs. LA Galaxy "Dream Cup" exhibition game. ;)

I thought I'd never get the chance to have a pic with Paulo Avelino, lucky enough, we had it done ;) He was so soft-spoken and nice. BTW, this was taken during Walang Hanggan's advance screening at SM Megamall Cinema 6 last January 14.

Some of the cast of the newest and trending teleserye "Walang Hanggan" after the advance screening. Everyone was beaming and flashing their smile as a sign of sweet success! It is indeed, a great teleserye to watch out for in ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida.

Here are some of the pics I've captured during "Walang Hanggan" premiere held at the SM Megamall Cinema 6 last January 14, Saturday. The huge crowd that had gathered in and out the cinema is a sign of success and warm acceptance of avid Pinoy viewers.

Never miss the beginning of a story of true love bound to last forever in ABS-CBN’s biggest teleserye offering this 2012, “Walang Hanggan,” weekdays after “Budoy” on Primetime Bida. For more updates, log on to ABS-CBN website or follow ABS-CBN Twitter account.
