5 must-haves for a perfect beach trip

With the temperature peaking at around 35 degrees Celsius daily, the warm weather in the Philippines beckons a trip to the nearest beach.

While packing for the road trip, there are some items you need to put in your weekender bag to make the most out of your short respite from the heat.

Smartphone for selfies

Never leave for a trip without your smartphone! Well, that is unless you are trying to get off the grid. Your smartphone can be your ultimate travel buddy that will document your getaways, help you stay on track with its GPS feature, and more. If you are looking for a new smartphone, consider getting a Vivo V9. The latest flagship of the global smartphone brand is a knockout for taking selfies and photos. It has a 24-megapixel AI selfie camera and a 16MP+5MP dual rear camera for capturing your best beach moments.

Water bottle for hydration

Lounging under the sun may give you a great tan, but remember to keep hydrated with a bottle of water at hand’s reach. Make sure you ditch the single use of plastic bottles by bringing your own bottle. Klean Kanteen has a wide array of stainless steel water bottles including insulated ones to keep your drinks cold throughout the day.

Beach blanket for convenience

Lying on the beach with a book in hand is one of the best ways to kill time—until you stand up only to spend minutes trying to brush off sand from your skin or your mat! Lagu beach blankets can help you. These blankets repel sand to keep them on the beach. Plus, their unique linen blend is allergen-free with quick-dry properties.

  Swimwear for extreme activities

Although there are now a lot of shops that offer fashionable swimwear, make sure you stick to those that are made for the rough waves—especially if you are planning to try different beach and water sports like volleyball or surfing. Speedo is a trusted brand by many athletes because of its high-quality swimwear and accessories. With the proper sizing, every Speedo swimwear has a snug fit to keep you focused on the game.

Sunblock for protection

Your time at the beach can leave a mark—literall. While you can avoid the sunburn by staying indoors, you might miss out on all the fun. Instead, you may opt to wear rash guards and other protective accessories like wide-brimmed hats. You should also make sure you apply sunblock before going out to the beach. Lightweight and water-resistant, the VMV Hypoallergenics’ Armada Sport 70 may be a sound choice. It shields your skin from UVA and UVB rays to prevent sun-related problems.

BUM: DARE TO EVOLVE THIS SUMMER

TheFreeDictionary.com defines BUM as:
1. A tramp; a vagrant.
2. A lazy or shiftless person, especially one who seeks to live solely by the support of others.
3. An incompetent, insignificant, or obnoxious person: The batter called the pitcher a bum.
4. One who is devoted to a particular activity or milieu: a beach bum.

I know, I know it all spell... negative. But BUM basically is a single and very catchy word, right? Actually most of the times, negative terms are the words that easily cling to everyone's minds. A very good citation was the bad or ill news and publicities find a very huge pace in the society.

But what if, all these negativities were opposed and be converted to create positivities as well as possibilities? I guess, BUM is doing us a great favor, their fashion implies, instead of characterizing laziness, incompetency and obnoxiousness, BUM allows us to witness and experience the "other" side. BUM simply DARES TO EVOLVE!!!

I was invited by my good friend Rai Lacoste of www.BNLMAG.com (thanks heaps!) and had the privilege to watch, observe, interview, take shots and enjoy BUM's Dare to Evolve Summer Collection photo shoot.

The 19-year old head-turner and one of ABS-CBN's Star Magic talents, Empress Schuck is one of the image and brand models of BUM Equipment.

We've seen this young lady blossomed and developed into a fine actress. She is presently engaging herself into much more mature roles like that of her current Kapamilya Gold afternoon tv series entitled "Mundo man ay Magunaw," where she plays one of Eula Valdez's daughters as Sheryl with her sibling Nikki Gil as Jennifer and she's being paired with Ejay Falcon. This project was their second team-up after the very successful airing of "Guns and Roses," which topbills Philippine Cinema's "Bad boy" Robin Padilla and the gorgeous Bea Alonzo. Empress has been a BUM endorser for five years now and she hopes to star in an action movie doin' an "Angelina Jolie" type of role.

According to Empress, she's only allowed to entertain suitors and admirers, she thinks that this isn't the right time for her yet to enter into a relationship and that Ejay is only a close friend.

Me and Empress during the very exclusive BUM photoshoot

The very flamboyant...

playful....

and funny ==> Dino Imperial

This 24-year old former Star Magic talent; commercial model and is presently one of Viva artists alongside with Anne Curtis and Sarah Geronimo, is always at his "hype." :)) If I wasn't aware of his real age, I would think he's only a sixteen or a seventeen year-old stylish head-turner. Dino and Empress always get along so well and they've this "magic" chemistry in front of the camera which was very evident in the shots taken and I, myself could attest to that. For these two beautiful and amazing BUM celebrity endorsers, just put on the right music, then the party begins... :))

Wanna see them move?

So, you  think you've had enough? Nah ah, I got more cool and "behind the scene" pics from their photo shoot. :) Just wanna apologize for the low quality of the pics, we weren't allowed to use our camera flashes. :)) but that's understandably just and fair.

Oooops! It's just me! hehehe :P

Meanwhile, this 14-year old petite and charming teeny-bopper Bea Binene, one of the finalists in GMA 7's Star Struck Kids in 2004 has been a very influential BUM celebrity endorser. And being one of the Junior Child Ambassadors of the Haribon Foundation, she has established a name of her own in the local industry. After the successful airing of "Reel Love Presents: Tween Hearts" over Kapuso Network Channel 7, Bea was reunited by her reel love team Jake Vargas in "Alice Bungisngis and her Wonder Walis" which is airs during weekdays before "24 Oras" in GMA 7.

"Kulitan" time with her Kuya Dino

with the sweet babe, Bea ;))

And finally, the newest addition to BUM equipment family, coming from a very well-known showbiz
clan... it's Daniel Padilla!

Had the chance to interview the newest BUM celebrity brand ambassador and one of the most sought-after teen-age actors of today. This seventeener son of former actress Karla Estrada and actor/ brother of Philippine Cinema's "Bad Boy" Robin Padilla, Rommel Padilla is dramatically making waves and gaining his own set of followers. Having finished his last youth-oriented show, "Growing Up," in Kapamilya network, he's being teamed- up once again with Kathryn Bernardo in the currently airing ABS-CBN teleserye "Princess and I," whom Daniel finds very attractive. The newest teen-age idol admits that he doesn't court her pretty co-star he believes that everything should come at the right time and place.

Bea Binene and Daniel Padilla

Can't help but notice Daniel's very recognizable voice, as if I was talking with his Uncle Robin, he even has his uncle's mannerisms and looks. :)) Incidentally, Daniel can't still disclose the title of the movie he's doing with his Uncle Robin. I asked him what do his parents Karla and Rommel advice him re his entering in showbiz, "Magtiyaga lang daw po ako at mahalin ang trabaho pati ang mga kasamahan ko," he answered.

Thumbs-up to you Daniel and BUM!

How do you feel now being the newest addition to the BUM Equipment family? "S'yempre tuwang-tuwa po ako, sino ba namang hindi matutuwa eh pinili po nila ako," he quipped. What's your message to your BUM family? "Hindi ko po sasayangin ang binigay nilang pagtitiwala," he said... attaboy!

with the very nice and pretty Ms. Sheina San Antonio, BUM's designer for Girls Teens Wear. Thanks deary for the materials. ;))

The very accommodating Mr. Beni Reyes, BUM's designer for Boys Teens Wear holding the latest jacket that will soon hit the stores after summer, hmmm excited much! ;))

Beni Reyes was so genial during the interview, he told us that BUM had extended its age group market. And it now caters upper age group which ranges from 13 until 25. Actually I admitted to him that, I, myself is a BUMmer, I find their styles, eccentric and outbound. Beni even shared that, in the year 2004, BUM had displayed hip-hop and preppy clothing styles, while in 2005, they've presented Emo outfits and had a transition of gothic into glam punk. They're also featuring clothings with flashes of colors and glitters to capture the much even mature market.

Every summer, BUM evolves into featuring bright colors like yellow, blue, red and they've highlighted what's in and trending today, the aztec and paisley prints!

Here are some of BUM Equipment's latest Summer Highlights, check them out!

Daniel is wearing striped Aztec inspired print w/ colored summer short w/ combi aztec print. Comfy clothing available in Boys Teens Wear (BTW)

Bea was wearing a top-layered print pattern w/ inner halter top w/ summer maong short with tote bag exclusive for BUM's boutique outlets for as low as P199.75

Latest Sunblock Protection: A Summer Treat

What is the season that most of us look forward to each year aside from Christmas? Oh well, cheers to everyone, because SUMMER is here! And since we're all excited for our outdoor beach activity with family or friends, let's spoil ourselves with activities under the sun, but be reminded to get the right protection for your skin when you do your adventures, okay?

Worry no more, 'coz here's one "summer treat" from Kohl Industries Corporation that can help you stay protected against the harmful effects of excessive exposure to the sun. It's the latest skin protection product, the Ultra Screen MD Sunblock.

Ultra Screen MD Sunblock

Ultra Screen MD Sunblock is a dermatologically-tested sunblock that helps reduce the risk of skin damage and aging due to the too much exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light emitted by the sun.

It has a SPF (sun protection factor) ranging from 60 to 70 that signifies longer protection against UVB. SPF measures how much exposure your skin can take before it gets burnt with the sunblock.

With Ultra Screen MD Sunblock’s broad spectrum, your skin is not only protected from UVB, but also from UVA, which is attributed to cause skin cancer.

Plus, Ultra Screen MD is hypoallergenic that makes it applicable to any skin type, without the harm of irritation.

It is also easy absorbent making it practical to use, since you only need a little amount of Ultra Screen MD Sunblock to lather into your skin for protection.

It is best to apply generously and evenly unto skin, 15 minutes before exposure to sunlight. Re-apply at frequent intervals after swimming and towel drying.

Ultra Screen MD is your all-in-one sunblock since this can be applied both to your face and body. So, less hassle for you to buy two sunblock products separately.

PRICE and AVAILABITY

Ultra Screen MDSunblock is available in 40, 60 and 90ml bottles in easy-to-carry designs, fit for any outdoor activity you might have.

Ultra Screen MD Sunblock is exclusively available only at Watsons Stores in the Philippines for only Php 149 to Php285 retail price.

It’s the most affordable sunblock with the high SPF compared to leading brands. Thus, you get more protection against the sun, without ripping your budget.

Making it the budget-friendliest sunblock for your summer activities.
