Hot Air Balloon Update! Statement from PIHABF

Photo taken from PIHABF Facebook page

The organizers of the longest running balloon event in Asia – the Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF): “A Weekend of Everything that Flies,” maintains its decision not to hold the 19th PIHABF this year, but instead, prepare for a bigger event scheduled for February 12-15, 2015.

Amidst reports of a balloon event taking place in Clark, Pampanga in April 2014, spearheaded by Mr. Ronnie Tiotuico of the Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Office, the PIHABF Organizing Committee has issued the following statement:

Preparation for the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta is a major undertaking.

The decision not to hold a Fiesta this year was not undertaken lightly. From the perspective of the PIHABF organizers, our 2013 event (featuring more balloons than ever, the highly impressive Breilting Jet Acrobatic Team, and the myriad of other flying, ground and static events) would be a hard act to follow without allowing sufficient time to plan, prepare and book new and interesting activities.

We believe that by suspending the 2014 Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, allowing our organizing committee more time to secure a suitable venue for the fiesta and investing more time in planning, securing sponsorships and implementing enhancements, we can offer our public spectators a truly safe and world-class event in 2015.

PIHABF will not be part of the April 2014 event in Clark, Pampanga. We will not participate in the planning, organization or staging of the event. We disclaim any association with the organization or management of the said event.

We hope that the organizers of the April 2014 event, headed by Mr. Ronnie Tiotuico, have carefully looked into the many safety requirements and issues involved in staging an event of this scale. PIHABF is concerned that the length of time allocated for them to learn the processes and preparations for this kind of activity is too short. We hope they are not misrepresenting their expertise in implementing an airshow to prospective sponsors, participants and especially the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

The PIHABF organizers have worked hard to develop operational and safety procedures.  With an admirable safety record, we have built trust with event participants and other valued partners.  We value this reputation, built on a foundation of 20 years of experience.

We recognize that the balloon fiesta is an activity that the international aviation community looks forward to.  Any untoward incident would impact on the good name of PIHABF organizers and damage the reputation of the Philippines.

We assure the public that we are already working hard on the planning and preparation for a bigger and even better 19th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in 2015.  We are excited for everyone to be a part of it.

My "Great Northern Sale" Ultimate Shopping Adventure

Looking for the ultimate bargain in the city? Guess what, I just got so lucky I even jumped for joy because I've found it just right here, at the "Great Northern Sale" in SM City North Edsa which is ongoing 'til tomorrow, July 15, 2012. :))

Going back to my previous post, I've mentioned there that I am a self-confessed shoephoric (shoe addict), and so as expected, I'll be hunting for shoes, shoes, shoes! But here's a story that I'd like to share with you... before leaving home, my mom had noticed and appreciated my white blouse. She had also expressed her "gusto" of having one similar to mine.

As soon as I've reached SM City North Edsa by around 2:30 pm, the first 3 levels of the carpark area were so full, so we had to look for few slots remaining at the 4th level, indeed, this was a very good indication that we'll be expecting a huge crowd. :))

Part of the crowd that had rushed to avail the major discounts at the
"Great Northern Sale"

I went inside SM department store to check for my mom's white blouse and I was so surprised by what I've seen...

OMG! I want! I want! :P

It's happening, it's true! It's real, everywhere you look, there are major discounts even up to 70%, here are some proofs...

G2000 was so generous in taking off 70% from the original price, yes!

Shopaholic offers 50% off, whoa!

I was really excited to use my SM Gift Pass :))

Check this out peeps, Canadian Club apparel, it's
"Your Choice" for only P150.00, isn't that great?

Finally, after searching and hunting for this "special" blouse which I've promised to my dear mom, I found the "one!" And look! This was such a fabulous find, from P979.75 it trimmed down to P475.00, that's more than 50% huh! I would not let go of this! Yay!

Vivant blouse for my mom ;))

You do the judging, they looked similar, right? hihihi All my time and efforts had been paid off, I was just so happy having found this, according to the pretty and friendly saleslady, this was their last stock, so that would only mean... it was really MTB (meant to be, hehe). It felt like finally discovering the treasure you'd been searching. I told myself, I would never give up and it was really worth it! Once again, I've proven that if you are strong-willed, patient and optimistic, nothing is impossible.

Mom, this one's for you, mission accomplished!

Do you think my "Ultimate Shopping Adventure" ends there? Oh no, I would never leave SM department store without checking out its Parisian collections... we're talking about shoes now, baby. :))

Take 50% off for Parisian shoe collection

I grew up with this brand. SM department store started as a shoe store founded by Mr. Henry Sy, the "Retail King" and is still considered as the richest businessman here in the Philippines according to Forbes Asia. Having been lived here in Manila ever since, our whole family used to visit the very first SM department store located in Quiapo built in 1972; it was part of the expansion of Mr. Henry Sy, due to the success of his shoe store in 1958. Since then, SM (Shoe Mart) has established its own name in the shoe industry having Parisian as its carrier shoe brand. `

This was Shoe Mart's (SM) first head office located in Quiapo

Moving forward...

Fitting a comfy Parisian pair of shoes, this was really a wise buy huh, see?
I'm gonna buy this one too!

Thumbs-up! Bought a blouse for my mom and a new pair of shoes for me at a great deal! :))

Time check, 4:15 pm, still have time to dine and check out the restaurants here. Hmmm... guess I could try and use the Free Gourmet Card of SM City North Edsa. Please check my previous post on how to avail this.

We decided to dine in at Burgoo located at the The Block, 2nd floor

Would you believe, got this whole order of Buffalo Wings for free with any food purchase, oh yeah!

I suggest that you try using the Free Gourmet Card and get special discounts and freebies from all the participating restaurants at SM City North Edsa.

Time check: 5:30 pm. The fun, excitement and adventure never really stops when you're here. My next agenda would be "The Block Fashion Show" which I also previously posted. Hope you could check it here and read about the "Strike a Pose" promo as well.

Gorgeous models in their fabulous outfits

After the spectacular fashion show, me and my blogger-friends posed for some photos. Actually, we intend to join the "Strike a Pose" promo ;))

with the sassy Cha Sy

Cha Sy, Mac Vasquez and of course me hehe

Stylish Florencio Jusay Jr. (FPJ)

The pretty Ria Hazel Lumandog

"pwede na ba?" hihi

Time flies so fast especially when you're having fun. I can never forget my ultimate shopping adventure here at SM City North Edsa. Valued experiences, fab finds, lavish dining, spectacular fashion experience and priceless bonding, is there anything that we could ask for? I say we have every reason to jump for joy! Oh well, you better get on your feet and head on to this one AMAZING place. It's this place called SM City North Edsa.

Special thanks to Azrael Coladilla of www.azraelsmerryland.blogspot.com and of course to SM North Edsa

I dedicate this blogpost to you Mama, I love you more than you'll ever know.
Take note: She loves the white blouse *-) *-) wink, wink

The Amazing Spider-Man Experience

Filipinos were so lucky being one of the first ones to watch this spectacular movie "The Amazing Spider-Man," while other countries including the United States, have been counting the days and nights 'til its first screening on July 03, 2012.

Taking advantage of this rare chance, I decided to catch the advanced screening at SM IMAX 3D theater in Mall of Asia (MOA). You can check-out movie schedules here.

We got the June 29, 12:01 AM slot, yay!

While waiting at the lounge, the whole venue was so filled with "Spidey" fanatics from different generations, genders and class. But there's one thing that we all do have in common... we're all excited about the whole muvee and how would Andrew Garfield do justice to his role as Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man.

Part of the waiting crowd gathered at the SM IMAX lounge

People get in line to have a lucky pick from the bowl and claim their free posters.
Well I got a pen hehe :)

Aside from the SM IMAX Baller ID, we were also given Krispy Kreme doughnuts and paper hats, there's my pen and the exclusive poster.

We were also given a free coffee, sakto, inaantok na talaga ko that time! :))

Since the seats were all occupied, this group caught my attention... picnic anyone? :P
I find it cool though, specially if you do it with your friends.

Of course, it would be a little-less happy without your peers, hehe

Haiz, I really need this kick! hihihi

"La lang," this too caught me, nice noh?

Almost there... this is the entrance to the left side of the theater

At 11:45 PM, here's the view (IMAX and SMDC parking lot) from where we lined up for entrance

Finally, we got in and got my 3D glasses on hehe (excited?! excited?!)

To tell you honestly, I really don't have any plans of documenting and blogging about this whole "thing." I just got really inspired by those people who really came out of their way staying late, even had their kids tagged along, even the grandmas and grandpas were there. It was like a gathering of sorts, a "bonding" which the Filipinos are popularly known for. Amazing, right?!

Now we turn our wheels to the movie... frankly speaking, I am not an avid reader of Spider-Man nor any of Marvel comics' stories. Being a movie enthusiast, I never fail to catch them on screen. But since I've been talking to few Marvel comics readers, I found out that one of Spider-Man's edited story from Toby Maguire's three flicks (2002, 2004 and 2007) was the "spider web" coming out of his wrists.

Spider-Man Web Shooter

With the latest Spider-Man movie, it was presented that Peter Parker himself made his very own web shooter aside from customizing his "spandex" costume. And that alone, really made an impact to the story. And now, the makers of this film can fully claim that, the untold chapter of Spider-Man was finally unveiled.

Andrew Garfiled as the new Spider-Man

I would like to commend the whole production for making this film so AMAZINGLY Spectacular! And this is the other reason why I opted to blog about this. I didn't expect that Andrew Garfield will be this great and he did exceed our expectations and gave justice to his character. Clap, clap, clap! Bravo! Andrew's been working hard for this character for six months, he had undergone physical preparations, doing strength, agility and core training, even nutritional monitoring. Do you think that by just plain camera, digital or graphic tricks, these would all work? Nah ah, as his character requires and as part of the movie's preparation per se, Andrew even had to do some trampoline works, power core moves, perfecting basketball skills, as well as martial arts, gymnastic and parkour works for three months. And it all paid-off! Whew! It was indeed a tiring, critical and yet a very humbling task being a superhero like Spider-Man huh! :))

Spider-Man came out of the manhole

It was refreshing to see on screen such brilliant and award-winning Hollywood actors like Martin Sheen, playing the role of Uncle Ben and Ms. Sally Field as Aunt May.

Martin Sheen (Uncle Ben) and Sally Field (Aunt May)

On the other hand, Emma Stone who appeared in several movies like Friends With Benefits and Crazy, Stupid, Love opposite Ryan Gosling plays Gwen Stacy as Peter Parker's love interest in the movie.

Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) and Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker)

Some of the scenes of Spider-Man's life story were presented in different versions but the significant thing is, the whole movie gave justice to itself. You know, I'd really wanted to pour some more points here but the rest is all for you to find out! So, if ever you have the chance and means, please I do encourage you to watch it in 3D, and you'll be more than AMAZED.
I tell you, you'll love it as much as I did.
I don't want to be a spoiler but please do stay in your seats 'til the film credits start to run on the screen. See you at the next "The Amazing Spider-Man" folks, since they're now preparing for the shooting of its sequel. :))

The easiest way to beat Exam Stress and Anxiety

Cramming, exams, pop quizzes, oral exams, graded recitations, deadlines, group projects and a lot of daily factors make the students stressed and feel anxious; more so, physically exhausted and sometimes mentally drained.

Do you think the students could cope up with these bunch of stress factors without giving them some food supplements? I don't think so... what I give to my son is this tried and tested food supplement called Brand's Essence of Chicken, naturally, it has ProBeptigen, an amazing peptide that can help boost the level of serotonin in the brain and has been known to fight stress, fatigue, and help improve concentration and motivation.

A lot of distractions surround us everyday, we may also be affected by not having enough sleep (maybe due to night-outs with friends, late-night work at the house or noisy neighbors, hehe), dealing with personal problems, caring for our little ones, medical emergencies... and the list goes on and never ends.

To make it easier for you and for all of us to face any type of exam, or even for the students and those reviewing for their board exams, here are some tips that could help you relieve exam stress and anxiety:

  • Everything you know is already inside your head. Given that you actively participate in your classes, you just need to unlock or refresh the knowledge you have inside your brain.
  • Start early. Your brain won’t absorb all the information you need to answer the exam just by having a tiring all-night review session. Give it time, a few weeks before the exam, to remember all the topics and everything else will follow.
  • Organize your review schedule. Prepare an outline of what you’re going to review every day. It would be very helpful to determine the topics for review ahead of time, compared to jumping from one topic to the other. This can avoid more confusion and stress while exam week nears.
  • Get help. There is nothing to be ashamed of and it would be easier for you to understand topics that are giving you a hard time by getting help from someone who really knows. Go ask your instructor or a classmate.
  • Get the right amount of sleep, food and exercise. Your brain is still part of your body and still needs proper nutrition to function well. Lack of these three factors may impede your performance.
  • Relax before exam day and stay calm. Putting your brain to so much stress could only hamper your performance in the exam. When our mind is stressed it clouds our judgment; but when it is calm, we see things clearer.
  • Reward yourself. Cut yourself some slack and feel free to indulge yourself with other activities after the exam.

You are sure to improve your performance in school and in work, too, plus with proper diet, rest, and regular exercise—of course with once-a-day regular consumption of BRAND'S® Essence of Chicken,  made from fine-quality chicken without any additives, fats and cholesterol, to help keep the brain healthy.

Facing exams may be frightening, but with enough preparation, a clearer mindset and of course, a focused disposition towards school, all the anxiety and unnecessary stress will stop bothering you once you’re back to school to make your school life and exam performance stress and anxiety-free.

Available in 42-gram and 70-gram bottles, with suggested retail prices of P68 and P108, respectively, BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken is sold at Mercury Drug stores in Metro Manila.

Buy and Sell Philippines relaunches its BuyAndSellPH.com

Just recently, as part of BuyAndSellPH.com's efforts to attract a wider audience, it hosted its first "Blogger's Event" at Banapple Too in Quezon City. Owing to the demands of the digital age, Buy and Sell Philippines, the number one ads paper in the Philippines, has decided to expand its visibility by establishing BuyAndSellPh.com as the online counterpart of the magazine.

More than just an extension of its print component, BuyAndSellPH.com is a stand-alone website that carries items not found in the free-ads publication. It also gives the public the option of skipping through unwanted postings via the search engine.

Averaging 2.5 million page views a month, BuyAndSellPH.com remains a formidable entity in the online marketplace field. And with advertised products ranging from real estate to automobiles to gadgets and personal effects, there really is something for every consumer on BuyAndSellPH.com.

Going back to the "Blogger's Event," We were introduced to the revamped BuyAndSell.com website while event sponsor Make Up Designory (M.U.D.) gave a demonstration featuring their line of professional-grade cosmetics. I, myself did have a great time being M.U.D.'s model (that time) ;-)) Having no idea at all, I came in there with my make-up on. So, pretty Alexis of M.U.D., has wiped all of it leaving no trace.

Heeding my request, Alexis had trimmed my eyebrows too! Yay! :P

It was really a worth-attending event, honestly, I get to be pampered cosmetically by M.U.D and acquire new style and tricks on how to wear make-up the "proper" way....

Superb! A-ok!

With Alexis and the rest of M.U.D. pretty gals (notice my smile? :-))- it's a sign of satisfaction hihi

we've learned about BuyAndSellPh.com's expansion as its magazine counterpart,

had the chance to bond with blogger/friends...

and because of those awesome experiences, I've directly went to another special event which is close to my heart, with confidence... look!

It's my blogger/ friend/ soon-to-be "kumare," Bedalyn of Mami and Family baby shower party!

with my other blogger/ friends and "kumares" (Baby shower photos courtesy of Nora Aquino of morethanjustaSAHM)

You can visit Make Up Designory Manila Facebook page or their location at 2nd floor, Serendra, Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City

And for more info and updates on Buy and Sell Philippines, here's their Facebook page.

A BIG THANKS TO ALL most especially to Flow Galindez of www.angsawariko.com for his continuous support and invites and to MarcoPolo Demo of  www.yashirokuru.com for having my pictures taken that time. ;-))
