TECNO Unveils Shot On CAMON Contest 2026 Jointly with Lonely Planet in Philippines

May 15, 2026

Calling on TECNO CAMON users nationwide to capture real life moments under the theme "Seeing is Believing" — with global travel awards and filipino special prizes up for grabs

Manila, May 15, 2026 – TECNO, the AI-driven innovative technology brand, and Lonely Planet, the globally recognized travel guidance leader, today jointly announced the co-hosted Shot On CAMON Contest 2026, the third edition of TECNO's annual global photography competition. Rooted in a shared spirit of exploration and expression, the collaboration expands the contest beyond technology alone to celebrate the people, places and stories behind every image. Through expert co-judging, co-branded content, and photo-essay-style storytelling, TECNO and Lonely Planet aim to inspire users around the world to see more, feel more and tell richer visual stories. Three Lonely Planet photographers will contribute original imagery shot on the CAMON 50 Series, while one Lonely Planet photographer will serve on the final-round jury panel alongside TECNO’s imaging team.
“Great photos are not just about equipment – they are about how deeply the photographer can immerse themselves in a destination,” said Melissa Killian, Vice President of Integrated Marketing at Lonely Planet. “TECNO’s technology makes that immersion easier, helping users stay present, observe more closely and capture meaningful moments as they happen. We are excited to partner on Shot On CAMON Contest 2026 and look forward to seeing how photographers around the world bring their journeys to life.”

Under the theme “Seeing is Believing,” this year's contest runs from May 15 to October 11, 2026, inviting smartphone photographers worldwide to capture real, beautiful and unrepeatable moments using the TECNO CAMON 50 Series. In a year increasingly shaped by AI, the theme is TECNO’s call to celebrate the authenticity of real life through photography, honoring diverse skin tones, fleeting emotions, and real-world observations. Even the contest’s AI category starts with a real photograph, encouraging users to start from authentic observation and personal expression.

TECNO Philippines Welcomes Kelvinmarkulit as CAMON Photography Ambassador
To further ignite local passion for authentic mobile photography, TECNO Philippines has appointed Kelvinmarkulit – a highly respected Filipino visual storyteller known for his raw, unfiltered depictions of everyday Filipino life – as the official CAMON Photography Ambassador for the Philippine leg of the contest. Kelvin will play a multi-faceted role: from co-creating a call-out video that rallies Filipino creators to join the competition, to serving as a regional judge in selecting the country's most compelling entries, and joining the exclusive winner's journey. His partnership with TECNO goes beyond a celebrity endorsement; it is a powerful signal to Filipino photography enthusiasts that local stories, captured with honesty and heart, can stand on a global stage. Kelvin’s own journey – from shooting candid street moments to earning international recognition – inspires a new generation to believe that with observation, emotion, and the right tool, anyone can transform the ordinary into the unforgettable.

Five Creative Categories That Celebrate New Ways of Seeing
The five categories of Shot On CAMON Contest 2026 are designed to inspire different ways of seeing, encouraging participants to capture real moments, emotions and perspectives from everyday life and travel.

Faces·Unfiltered – This category celebrates authentic portraits that reflect people as they really are, capturing diverse skin tones and individuality in a quiet close-up, a candid street portrait, or a moment shared between friends.
Night·Unveiled – This category invites participants to capture the atmosphere, mystery and emotion that emerge after dark, from neon-lit streets and reflections after rain to still moonlit scenes and late-night city life.
Culture·Unscripted – This category focuses on capturing the rhythm of a place as it naturally unfolds, whether through festivals, crafts, food moments or unplanned interactions between people.
Snapshot·Unspotted (Telephoto Special) – Participants are invited to capture distant details that reveal something surprising, intimate or easily overlooked, from textures on far-off peaks to a fleeting expression within a crowd.
AI·Unimagined (AI Gallery Special) – First capture a real-world photo with a TECNO phone, then transform it into an artistic style using TECNO’s AI Gallery. Both the original photograph and the AI-styled image must be submitted together. This category is designed to explore how AI can extend creative expression while keeping real-world photography as the starting point.

“‘Seeing is Believing’ is both a creative brief for our contestants and a reminder that the most powerful images begin with real life,” said Jack Guo, General Manager of TECNO. “Through Shot On CAMON Contest 2026, we hope to inspire users around the world to observe more closely, express themselves more freely and celebrate the beauty of authentic moments through photography.”

Awards, Honors and How to Enter
To recognize exceptional creativity, Shot On CAMON Contest 2026 will reward outstanding work across its major award tiers with both cash prizes and exclusive travel prizes sponsored by Lonely Planet. Selected winners will embark on a curated journey to explore the wonders — to experience is to believe, and only by witnessing can miracles truly be seen.
As rewards for the competition, one outstanding photographer will be awarded the TECNO Photography Master prize ($8,000). Additionally, there will be five winners for the Gold Prize ($3,000), five winners for the Silver Prize ($2,000), and five winners for the Bronze Prize ($1,000). Ten participants will also be selected as a TECNO Friend and will receive a CAMON 50 Series Smartphone. As an exclusive bonus, the TECNO Photography Master and the five Gold Prize winners will also be invited to a bespoke trip to the Philippines.

Special "Filipino Special Award" – Exclusive for Philippine Participants
In addition to the global prizes, TECNO Philippines is introducing the Filipino Special Award to recognize and reward local creative talent. Philippine users may submit either images (standard entry) or videos (via Instagram/Facebook Reels, and TikTok). While video submissions are considered informal entries and are not eligible for global awards, they will automatically be considered for the Filipino Special Award. A total of six additional winners will be chosen as CAMON Photography Endorsers in Philippines, each receiving a Lonely Planet Bespoke Trip and a CAMON 50 Series Smartphone. The breakdown is as follows: five winners from image submissions (across any of the five contest categories) and one winner from video submissions. This special award underscores TECNO Philippines' commitment to celebrating homegrown visual storytellers, whether they freeze a moment in time or bring it to life through motion.

World Class Pump Track

The Bike Playground holds the distinction of being the first signature covered asphalt pump track exclusively designed for Circulo Verde by bemedalled cyclist and international designer Claudio Caluori under his Velosolutions company.

Swiss-born designer Claudio discovered his passion for mountain biking at a young age and went on to ride competitively from the late 1990s. While serving as team manager for Gstaad-Scott, a World Championships winning team of riders, Claudio started building world-class pump tracks, pump parks, and downhill trails all over the world. “There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing the children’s smiles during their first laps on a pump track we just built,” says Caluori.

Among the world-class tracks Velosolutions has built can be found in Thailand, Indonesia, Canada, Switzerland and New York, USA. The Bike Playground at Circulo Verde will become part of that roster.

Markki Stroem's Grand Album Launch tomorrow

Singer - songwriter - theater actor and now being tagged as “Sexy Soul/Jazz Artist” Markki Stroem may have been introduced via the talent show Pilipinas Got Talent years ago, but it was last year that the public realized how gifted he is as a musician when he released an original song and music video online and on MYX “Steal Your Soul”, easily topped the charts and stayed there for couple of months. The song highlighted the distinct sound of Markki and unique songwriting style.

Because of the favorable response the song received, he was given the chance to star in a concert “Make Me Sweat” last February in Music Museum with the G-Force and now released his much awaited debut album “THOUSANDS OF PIECES” produced by Cornerstone Music. The CD includes his carrier single -  a jazzed-up cover of Carley Rae Jepsen’s hit song “Call Me Maybe”, which is currently becoming a big radio hit. Markki also gave Britney Spears' “Toxic” an exciting twist which is definitely a surefire hit once released.

But more than the covers featured in the album, it underscores Markki’s gift of writing music. Original songs written and arranged by Markki himself depict various states of the heart, relationships and life. “Kung Pwede Lang Ibalik”, “Illicit Activities”, “Fall From Grace”, “Iron Curtain” and “Exchanging Glances”.

Markki Stroem's album cover

“I really consider this my ‘baby’ because I have been a part of the whole creative process,” says Markki. “I am very thankful that I was given this chance to work on a very personal album like this.” He also added that he is mighty thankful that he got to work with some of the most artistic people in the business – singer Zia Quizon, production house Generation M and his own band.

Being part of the ASAP 2012 family, the show launched his album last September 23 and another single’s music video “Thousands Of Pieces”  (the album’s title track) was premiered on MYX featuring the Goddess of Cosplay Alodia Gosiengfiao and Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited Big Winner Slater Young.

Markki’s versatility is undeniable. Aside from being a musician, he is also currently working on two big projects which will be shown before the year ends. He will be playing the character of Joe Jonas in “Camp Rock” the musical and will portray a different and very exciting role (one of the lead casts) in an independent film “Slumber Party” – a Cinema One Originals entry. Not to mention his most talked about walk in the recently concluded Cosmopolitan Bachelor Bash as one of the Top 10 hottest men.

On October 5, Friday, that's tomorrow, Cornerstone Music, Magic 89.9 and Bonifacio Global City (BGC) will stage Markki’s grand album launch at the Bonifacio High Street Activity Area at 7 pm with his amazing band and some special guest performer/s. It’s a free show so hope everybody gets to catch Markki live on this much long awaited grand album launch.

ChildFund Philippines Launches Intensive & Meaningful Interventions To Support Children Against Poverty

Katherine Manik Childfund's National Director presents
Childfund's 5 year country strategy plan

After four decades of consistently working with local stakeholders to make a difference in the lives of Filipino children, ChildFund Philippines has launched the undertaking of its new five-year agenda, with its main thrust of “building pathways towards a world fit for Filipino children”.

“ChildFund has consistently worked – albeit under the radar for the past forty years – towards the development of healthy, secure, confident, educated, skilled and involved Filipino children and youth,” says Katherine Manik, Executive Director of ChildFund Philippines. “For the next five years, we aim to reduce poverty among the country’s children and youth through strong core programs in the poorest provinces in the country.”

The five-year agenda is ChildFund’s renewed response to problems of poverty that Filipino children face despite the country being among the fastest growing populations in Southeast Asia.

“Poverty has substantial effects on each life stage,” Manik shares. “Early on, poverty-stricken mothers of unborn children suffer high maternal death rates. Upon birth, infants and children aged zero to five years old suffer from malnutrition and delay in psychosocial and cognitive development.

“As they grow older, school children have poor learning outcomes and often develop low self-esteem. Their high dropout rates make them vulnerable to difficult circumstances and limit their chances at life.

“As they mature towards adulthood, many of them become out-of-school youths who are vulnerable to unsafe and exploitative work. These youth grow up with limited life skills, often bringing them in conflict with the law.”

In response to these issues, ChildFund’s five-year agenda provides a more meaningful and intensive intervention, through age-appropriate support programs that respond to children’s needs as they face poverty-caused deprivation, exclusion and vulnerability issues.

Teatro Bubut - children sponsored by Childfund - portrays the faces of poverty

“For the zero to five age group we have a program called ‘Batang Malusog at Bibo’, which provides greater access to services and maternal and child rearing education for mothers,” Manik says. “For the six to fourteen age group, we provide the “Batang Matalino at Listo’ Program, which trains teachers on child-friendly methodologies, establishes school-based child protection mechanisms and conducts financial education workshops for children. For the fifteen to twenty-four age group, we have the ‘Kabataang Aktibo at Produktibo’ program, which aims to improve competencies in employment and entrepreneurship, personality and leadership, as well as social involvement. These three programs are supported by a crosscutting platform called ‘Batang Protektado’, which focuses on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, emergency response and situations of armed conflict.”

ChildFund currently has 26 partners covering around 600 barangays in 19 cities and 48 municipalities located in 25 provinces located in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

“We’ve been here since 1971, and with our renewed vision, ChildFund Philippines intends to break bigger barriers and build greater milestones, with the supreme goal of improving the lives of Filipino children amidst poverty,” Manik concludes.

"Bwakaw:" Braving the "Hidden Truth" and Life's Reality

Watching “BWAKAW” is like threading the in depth meaning of life and finally realizing the "hidden truth" that's probably slapping your face since the day you can't even remember. At first I did not know what to expect as I was anticipating that the title referred to someone in the movie, maybe the lead star himself, as in this case portrayed by one of the country’s legendary actor, Mr. Eddie Garcia.

As an official entry to this year’s Cinemalaya, I find it interesting that it was going mainstream so this movie must have something special, I guess. :)) It was highly regarded in the filmfest, garnering Best Actor for Mr. Garcia.

Set in a rural countryside situation, this is a story about a grumpy old man known as Rene, who lives alone and is already awaiting and preparing for his death. For Godsake, he even bought a coffin already hehe.. He only has “bwakaw,"  a dog (Princess) as his companion and later turned best friend, which incidentally is also the title- roler in GMA Telebabad's fantasy-drama, "Aso ni San Roque." Life has no meaning for Rene, until certain twist and turn change his view.

After Bwakaw fell ill with a damning sickness, he came to realize that something in life is worth living for. He found true friendship with his dog. He even fell in love at an advance age and gave in to his true “innerself”. You just have to really watch out for those scenes, I tell you ;)

And most of all, this story has no miraculous ending thus it is a close resemblance to what actual life is here. Anybody can relate to some scenes that is happening in the story. A touching movie yet is also funny because of the comedy antics of some of its characters. Simple but true. Laughing yet teary eyed. These are some of the words best describe “Bwakaw”.

Also with the cast  are some distinguished actors and actresses, namely Rez Cortez, Beverly Salviejo, Soxie Topacio, Gardo Versoza, Allan Paule, Luz Valdez, Bibeth Orteza, Joey Paras, Soliman Cruz, and Miss Armida Siguion- Reyna. The film is directed by Jun Robles Lana and has dedicated his latest "masterpiece" to the late playwright and children's book author, Rene O. Villanueva, his mentor.

Rated A by the Cinema Evaluation Board and distributed by Star Cinema, this is a film that you may not want to miss. Catch it! Still showing in various theaters nationwide!

Her Majesty Queen Sofia of the Kingdom of Spain (leftmost) listens intently as Philippine Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman (third from right) and United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Deputy Country Director Asaka Nyangara (rightmost) jointly brief her regarding emergency relief and rehabilitation activities mounted in response to Tropical Storm Sendong. The presentation was made during Queen Sofia’s visit to the Climate Change Academy in Bicol province earlier this month. With Queen Sofia was Spanish Secretary of State for International Cooperation Jesus Gracia (third from left).

The Kingdom of Spain, through its Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacionalpara el Desarrollo (AECID) or Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, is a major donor to the Philippines and strongly supports the fight against hunger and malnutrition in the country. Since 2009, Spain has given over USD4.5million (Php190.6 million) to support various WFP programmes, implemented in close partnership with DSWD,  that help ensure proper nourishment for children and pregnant and lactating women who have been displaced by conflict in Mindanao, as well as for relief and rehabilitation of communities affected by natural disasters.

NComputing Makes E-Classroom a Reality for Public Schools in Philippines

Since we have a consistently growing number of population, it's undoubtedly expected that we've also an increased number of students enrolled to different schools as well. To make up with those increasing digits, the quality of education has to be upgraded. NComputing Inc.'s coming here in our country is very much timely. It is one of the fastest growing end-to-end virtualization company in the world, with over 20 million users in 140 countries, enables the education sector to take advantage of its solutions to help modernize the public school learning environment. The company's award-winning, patented technology lowers desktop computing costs, improves manageability, and reduces both energy consumption and e-waste.  NComputing provides the perfect solution for leveraging the power and potential of PCs and cloud computing.

According to analyst firm IDC, NComputing is the number one desktop virtualization provider in Asia Pacific. A leading provider of virtual desktops in education, the company worldwide has an install base of over three million units in less than three and a half years. They are involved in many educational projects across multiple countries such as India, Pakistan and most recently the Philippines.

With the help of NComputing’s leading desktop virtualization technology, both teacher and grade school students of the public school, Nueve De Febrero Elementary School in Mandaluyong City, now enjoy an e-classroom that changed the teaching and learning experience along with another 3000 plus schools in Philippines.

The e-classroom was made possible after a bidding process was initiated for the Department of Education’s Computerization Project.

“We are proud that NComputing’s technology is helping in the modernization of the IT educational infrastructure of thousands of schools in Philippines. We at NComputing are highly confident that the technology will enable more Filipino children to take advantage of computer education and have a much better environment than before. We are also confident that our track record with other educational institutions around Asia Pacific would prove that we are the solution of choice for education,” said Manish Sharma, NComputing’s Vice President for Asia Pacific.

Mr. Manish Sharma, NComputing's Vice President for Asia Pacific

In our modern world, technology requires more power, more energy consumption and of course increase  in electricity. In NComputing devices, such as the X-series desktop virtualization kits, it taps the unused capacity of the computing power so that up to eleven users can simultaneously share a single PC. We get the maximum amount of savings with NComputing most especially with regards to electricity.

NComputing X-series Desktop Virtualization kits

U170

KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
  • Share one PC with up to eleven users
  • Slash hardware and supports costs up to 75%
  • Easy to set up, maintain and secure
  • Compact and reliable (no fans or disks)
  • Energy-efficient (1 watt per user)
  • Support standard applications including multimedia and full-screen video
  • Supports standard and widescreen resolutions (up to 1280x1024 or 1440x900)
  • Connect users directly to the shared PC using standard cables up to 10 m (33 ft) long
  • Includes powerful v5pace desktop virtualization software, PCI card, and XD2 access devices

NComputing Inc.'s SOLUTION

Using NComputing’s virtualization technology, the school reduced the required number of central processing units (CPU) for a school’s computer laboratory and therefore helped in cutting down hardware costs significantly. This proves advantageous as well since with the lowered number of CPUs translate to lowering the maintenance and electric power consumption costs to a fraction.

In the lab infrastructure in most of these schools, these devices enable one host system (CPU) to power six user-peripherals (monitor, keyboard and mouse) simultaneously. Instead of having five additional CPUs, only one is being used for every six users.

The NComputing solution takes advantage of the fact that today’s PCs are so powerful that the vast majority of users only need a small fraction of the computing capacity. NComputing taps this unused capacity so that it can be simultaneously shared by many users. Each user’s monitor, keyboard and mouse are connected to a small and highly reliable NComputing thin-client device, which is then connected to the shared PC.  NComputing’s award-winning vSpaceTM desktop virtualization software provides each user with a rich multimedia computing experience and individual computing sessions. Organizations typically save at least 50% on hardware costs, 75% on support costs, and 90% of electricity costs by installing NComputing.

NComputing’s low capital expenditure and total maintenance cost opens new avenues to implement better computer education as it paves the way for educational institutions to take double the advantage of this type of computing infrastructure.

The solution was provided by NComputing’s authorized national distributor, Mustard Seed and its channel partners.

We've also known that, the company gives 3- year warranty with no hidden fees. It doesn't decrease the speed, it just maximizes the power. The cost per unit is  PhP 4,000 multiplied by the number of computers you wish to use (maximum of 10), like for example  4,000 x 10 computers = PhP 40,000 plus Contract worth. This will also be beneficial for those who'd like to invest in Internet Cafes/ shops. As of this writing, 70-75,000 units have been deployed by NComputing Inc., and just to name a few, their clients include DSWD, Don Bosco, Philippine Coastguard, Philippine Navy, DMCI and Rural Bank of San Juan.

To know more about NComputing and their products, please visit their website www.ncomputing.com and you cal also follow them on Twitter.
