Sean de Guzman Acting Prince On The Rise

Sean de Guzman

Getting to know Sean de Guzman, Lead Actor in ‘Anak Ng Macho Dancer’

Who is he? That is the question on the lips of people this side of Tinsel Town after it was announced that a relative newcomer, Sean De Guzman bagged the lead role in Joel Lamangan’s “Anak ng Macho Dancer.”

The film, produced by Godfather Productions is written by Henry King Quitain, a top notch screenplay writer for ABS-CBN drama series. A special screening is being planned this December and an actual movie play date might commence next year.

The 20-year old member of the boyband Clique V does not hide his excitement with regard to getting the plum role: “Until now I cannot believe what is happening. You know, all I do now are baby steps, dahan-dahan lang. Careful as I inch my way to this new career of becoming an actor. All the surprises I get because of this break, I embrace and welcome. Ang daming natutunan. Ang sarap sa pakiramdam.”

“A part of me is a little awkward with all the attention but at the same time I am very happy.” Sean declares. “Thank you very much to director Joel Lamagan and my producers for the trust. “

He talks about his character, Inno: “He happens to be the son of Alan Paule, the original Macho Dancer in the film by director Lino Brocka. It was a delight to work with Sir Alan, he is a very kind and giving actor. As my father in the movie, he was strict with me, always scolding me. He wants me to just follow his orders and do what he thinks is the right thing so it always ends in have a conflict.”

Adds Sean: “Inno, as a young man, does not deviate from my own personality. We are somewhat similar in being a risk taker. When we have a goal, we dedicate our energies to the goal or cause and focused on it until I it comes to fruition.”

“He became a macho dancer, because he wanted his father's life to be fine, for him to experience the good life,” continues Dela Cruz.

Portraying the role of a macho dancer opened the eyes of this protagonist to the excruciating facts and givens of life.

“Not all of us are blessed with the opportunities that come our way so we have no right to dismiss or judge someone because of their choices,” Sean states. “I am not telling that these macho dancers are saints but all of them fight for their life and loved ones.”

He continues: “They all have a story that we should understand and respect. When you hear their stories, if people only take their time to really listen, it will hit you big time. For others, they already made a conclusion that their choice is easy.”

Emphatically, the young upstart says: “Akala lagi na porke lalaki sila, walang mawawala, ililigo lang. Mag-alcohol. Take vitamins and make sure you practice safe sex. What people do not get is that their self-worth decreases, especially when a patron ask a macho dancer to do something that is not natural to him. You lose your dignity and manhood because of the money you need for survival.”

How did you prepare yourself to do all the daring and sexy requirements? Sean’s swift reply: “I really studied the script and listened to the instructions of director Joel. I always feel in my heart that I am Ino. That Ino's truth should be shown in the movie. I want to believe that I did well and I leave the judgment to our future audiences.”

Life lessons that viewers will take home from Anak ng Macho Dancer, avers Sean: “How he overcame the consequences of his actions and choices, are the biggest take home from the movie. What to me is important here is that he fought for his life. He didn't just sulk. What he thinks is right for the people he loves, he did it head on. We all sometimes have choices that are not good, but as long as you know the consequences of that choice, there is still a lesson to be learned. Mistakes and struggles, also triumphs are part and parcel of all our lives.”

In conclusion, Sean de Guzman wishes: “That many will watch and love the movie. And that many better opportunities follow. I am a young man who is still surprised to all the things that are happening. All of these I really enjoy and I am thankful. The pleasure of feeling that I had a dream that came true is priceless.”

"This Guy's In Love With You, Mare:" A blockbuster hit on its second week!

After the success of "Praybeyt Benjamin" at the tills last year, here comes another Star Cinema comedy film "This Guy's In Love With You, Mare" which is now on its second week and a certified blockbuster hit with 160 million gross earnings and had 23M on its first day in over 150 theaters nationwide.

I guess one of the biggest and success factors of this film is the characters per se, of course not to forget the box-office comedy director, Wenn V. Deramas. The unique, complicated and fun-filled love triangle story of Gemma played by Toni Gonzaga, Mike played by Luis Manzano and Lester played by Vice Ganda, made the film stand-out since this is the first-ever movie project of the comedy box-office trio.

Hmmm.... dark secret? It kept me thinking what Toni had said about one of the questions that was asked during the movie's bloggers conference- "What is the moral lesson of the movie?" Toni replied, something like "You can never give love unless you learn to forgive." It made sense, right?! :))

The multi-media star also shared her fond experiences with her co-stars and how she promptly describe them, "Si Luis pagdating sa pagkain, isha-share n'ya 'yung food n'ya, magpapabili s'ya, minsan tatanungin ka n'ya kung ano 'yung gusto mo... ibibili ka rin n'ya, si Vice naman, chikahan nang chikahan nang chikahan, tiktakan nang tiktakan nang tiktakan kami nang walang humpay...kwentuhan at tawanan."

The very playful Vice Ganda and Luis Manzano

Toni even added, "Ito na siguro ang pinakamasayang pelikulang nagawa ko sa tanang buhay ko. Parang at its highest level lahat ng eksena. Todo-bigay lahat. Wala kaming tinipid dito, lahat ng ikasasaya ng tao ibinigay namin sa pelikulang ito. On the other hand, Luis shared that he was so excited of the film not only for its unconventional love story but also because he was able to work with his friends.

Meanwhile, Vice strongly believes in the sincere intention of their film which is to spread good vibes among the moviegoers. He expressed, "Ang intensyon namin sa pelikulang ito ay mapatawa kayong lahat at alam kong maibibigay namin sa inyo 'yan." And truly, every moviegoer that goes out of every movie theater has that certain "smile" not only on their lips but it is also kept within their hearts.

A Story of Love and Responsibility.... “The Mistress”

Love begins with Attraction...
Love is fueled by Desire...
Love takes on Risks...
Love comes with Pain...
Great Love comes with Hope.

These are the running taglines from the most awaited romantic- melodrama movie of the year....
“The Mistress.”

Wife or mistress, husband or lover, boyfriend or girlfriend, friends or enemies, I guess everyone’s been expecting and so excited in watching this Star Cinema’s newest offering. Helmed by no other than Ms. Olivia “Inang” Lamasan, and penned by one of the celebrated screenwriters of our time, Ms. Vanessa Valdez, this film marks as Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd’s comeback project as a love team on screen since their last partnership two years ago, via the movie “Miss you like Crazy.”

“The Mistress” not only celebrates the 10th year anniversary of “John Lloyd-Bea” tandem, but according to direk Olive, it also marks her 10th film directorial job, as well as Vanessa’s 10th screenplay, so they’re celebrating a Triple 10, would you believe? :)) Congratulations to all of you! Completing the powerful cast, the lead stars were also joined by Ms. Anita Linda, Carmi Martin, K Brosas, Tony Mabesa, Gabe Mercado, Minnie Aguilar, Nor Domingo and child star Clarence Delgado.

John Lloyd and Bea during "The Mistress" Blogcon

Expect more striking, peculiar and phenomenal exchange of lines between the characters, Regina, The Wife played by Ms. Hilda Koronel; Rico, The Benefactor played by Ronaldo Valdez;  JD, The Lover played by John Lloyd and Sari, The Mistress played by Bea. Driven by their maturity, and by the demand of the story, this film is Bea and John Lloyd’s most daring role to date!

Watching the movie’s teaser, Bea was quoted as saying, “Walang babaing pinangarap maging kabit!”
So true, so real... but has it ever crossed your mind, why do these women still engage into a relationship where in fact they know very well that they don’t own and doesn’t have any right to the man they’ve fallen in love with? The only thing that these women can occupy is a little “space” in their man’s heart. Nevertheless, being in love doesn’t proved just and right if it’s considered illegal, stolen and unsolicited.
But no offense meant to anyone huh, this film doesn’t judge anyone. And you really can’t put all the blame on the mistress alone. It really takes two to tango. During the blog conference, Bea even shared what her mother used to tell her, “You cannot seduce a happy husband.” I couldn’t agree more with that! In this present and modern world, oftentimes, the so-called “straight” men are predominantly empowered by liberated and persistent women, agree?

“The Mistress” entails us a love story in different angles. This is not created to justify Sari’s means or any of her personal reasons. This film is made for us to realize and spend some thinking that, being in love doesn’t only include attraction, desire, risks and pain... we must not exclude that, apart from those feelings, there’s always a corresponding responsibility...and that all of us must face whatever consequences there might happen. But the good thing is... at the end of the day, we should never fail to anticipate that there’s always hope.

Never miss this one-of-a-kind love story! Showing in 200 theaters nationwide!

"Why married men still seek for other women?"

"The Healing" Movie : The freedom to choose... and life's consequences

Let us all admit, aside from consulting to different medical practitioners, engaging into various laboratory tests and going to the clinics or hospitals, Filipinos somehow, would really result into getting the services of an "albularyo" to perform "healing" sessions. In some ways or another, we also keep this "option" within us that sometimes we ask their help to do some rituals like "tawas" and other "healing-related" activities. I guess this is all part of the Filipino culture that we tend to believe and somehow establish faith to these so-called "faith healers." My question is, "Are we ready and aware of its consequences?"

I guess it's high-time that we get to witness and watch a new brand of suspense, horror and drama movie being brought to us by Star Cinema, entitled "The Healing." Incidentally, the said movie was graded A by the MTRCB and has granted it a double rating (R-13 and R-18); the first time to happen in the history of Philippine Cinema. This is also the first time that a very delicate theme like this was tackled in-depth in local film.

Still gorgeous as ever @36 :))

The "Star for all Seasons" and Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos, lead star of "The Healing" was so elated on the ratings they've received for the movie, she said direk Chito Rono really fought for that, so the moviegoers would have the freedom to choose between the two options. More choices, more audience will be captured. :)) Isn't it amazing?!

during "The Healing" Bloggers conference held at ABS-CBN ELJ Bldg.

On the other hand, award-winning writer Mr. Roy C. Iglesias couldn't be happier when his story was approved since this was really tailored-made to the "Star for all Seasons." Gov. Vilma Santos have been hoping and dreaming for this kind of movie, she said, "I've been asking Chito for so long for something like this and I'm so glad that it's finally happening. With the undeniable top caliber of Star Cinema, Direk Chito, and our award-winning cast, how can I go wrong?"

The whole cast of "The Healing"

In honor of Vilma's 50th anniversary in showbiz, Star Cinema gathered an all-star highly acclaimed powerhouse cast composed of Kim Chiu, Janice de Belen, Mark Gil, Martin del Rosario, Allan Paule, Cris Villanueva, Daria Ramirez, Ces Quesada, Ynez Veneracion, Simon Ibarra, Abi Bautista, Joel Torre, Chinggoy Alonso, Mon Confiado, Carmi Martin and Pokwang! The legendary actress can only say nothing but high praises and flattering remarks about her co-stars who were equally professional and brilliant in their own crafts.

Gov. Vilma was very friendly and accommodating. She really made my day! Thanks so much and love u Gov.! Batangas is so "lucky" having someone like you! :))

Ate Vi, as she's fondly called before she became Lipa's Mayor for three consecutive elections and eventually got elected as Governor of Batangas in 2007, plays the role of Rosette Angeles, a very simple woman who's only prime motive is to help her family and friends suffering from ailments and various illnesses. Of all these changes and turn of events in their lives, what could possibly happen next?

Don't let all your curiosities ponder, have it answered! Do watch this newest masterpiece from the film master himself, direk Chito S. Roño, Vilma's very first ever suspense horror movie, "The Healing."

Please watch this video to enlighten you about the movie's double rating R-13 (censored version) and R-18 (director's cut) as Gov. Vilma Santos talks about it during their
Bloggers Conference.
